Jennifer Pennifer ~Book Review & Giveaway~

Our kids love books! They love hearing stories that make them feel good, make them feel loved, & help them relate to the characters in the books. I also like books that teach the kids good things, help them learn to be good people, etc.
http://www.jenniferpennifer.com/

Kids will be Kids and Jennifer Pennifer from the book The Misadventures of Jennifer Pennifer is no exception. This story is about a little 5 1/2 year old girl that's imagination sometimes gets her into sticky situations. I can relate! My kids do it all the time. Sometimes it's hard to not giggle when I find them in certain predicaments, because you know that it's just a healthy curiosity that sometimes gets the in trouble. Truthfully, I could probably write a couple books about our little family experiences too. LOL!

We got the pleasure of reviewing The Misadventures of Jennifer Pennifer book. This will be the first of many books, based off of true life experiences from the author and her little girl (back when she was little). The story is lighthearted, detailed enough (but not so much that it's overwhelming to a 3 year old) and cute. It tells about a little 5 1/2 year olds day and some of the things she does...one of which causes her a little misadventure. LOL! My girls giggled as I read them the story and probably could relate to similar (but not exact) situations that they have been involved in. Like I said before...kids will be kids.

Little Giraffe ~ Giveaway ~

Everyone follows what's going on in Hollywood. Even people who don't admit they do...do! LOL! My husband is one of those people. He gets upset that I read http://www.people.com/ yet, he tells me about stuff he's seen on the homepage of yahoo about one of the actors or actresses that we enjoy. I do feel for them...constantly chased by the paparazzi, never having a private moment, etc. Talk about being in the spotlight.

One thing about these hollywood actors that really catches the attention of the public is what their kids are doing, wearing, saying, playing with, etc. Right? I mean...I would love to dress my kids in some of the clothes that they are putting their kids in. If only $$ was limitless. But then I guess I'd have no wants. LOL! Some of the products that celebs kids are using nowdays are actually pretty reasonable. For instance:

http://www.littlegiraffe.com/

Celebs such as Suri Cruise, Gwen Stefani, Tobey Maguire, Nicole Ritchie, Gabrielle Reece, Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner, & Charlie Sheen's kids have something "Little Giraffe" at their home. Now's your chance to get one for your little "CELEB baby". Angel Lily ~Product Review & Giveaway~

Many moms who have little girls have a hard time keeping bows in their hair. Some little ones don't have enough hair to keep a clip in and others like to pull them out. LOL! This can be a huge dilema for mommies that want their little girls to look "REALLY GIRLIE", even with very very little or super fine hair. http://www.angellily.ca/

Angel Lily was developed by a mommy who knew her P's and Q's when it came to fashion. After working in the fashion industry for some time, and having a daughter of her own, she started designing hairbows that had a NO SLIP application to them...and from there...Angel Lily was born and has become a huge successful business.
We got the pleasure of reviewing two sets of Angel Lily Hairbows. A few things that I noticed right off the bat...they were presented with much detail (definitely gift giving ready). They came in an organza bag presented on a card that looked super professional and darling. The bows themselves were made out of wonderful quality grossgrain ribbon and some had little crystals added for extra flair. The thing that amazed me the most about these clips...they were alligator style clips that were covered in a material that made them 100% slip proof. Even in Brooklyn's hair (that is really long), they stayed put exactly where I put them. Even when she moved around...they never slipped out. NICE!
Angel Lily would like to give another Mommy the opportunity to try out their hairbows. The winner of the giveaway will get to pick out (3) of her favorite bows as a prize. Bet you want to enter now...don't ya?
To enter:
This giveaway will end on June 6th, 2009 and is open to US & Canadian residents.
Thank you Angel Lily for letting us review your pretty hairbows. My girls are delighted with their new bows!

All Terrain ~Product Review & Giveaway~

Mosquitos love me! They love my kid's skin too! I'm not sure if our skin has some sort of sweet scent that attracts them to us or what, but it never fails...we always come in from being outside with several mosquito bites during the spring/summer months. UGHHH...nothing more annoying than an itchy bite. http://www.allterrainco.com/

I found All Terrain Company online during a search for companies that make products that are Deet free and safe to use on my kids for sunscreen and insepct repellant. They matched my search perfectly! Not only do they offer sunscreen & insect repellant that is deet free, it's also paba and paraben free. NICE! Their products are all natural, environmentally friendly and support environmental groups...and they are made in the USA. Love it!

We got the pleasure of reviewing the Kidsport SPF 30 sunscreen. It has a pleasant sunscreen smell (nothing overpowering or horrible) and rubs into their skin and doesn't leave much of a sticky residue like some sunscreens do. It is very water/sweat resistant and I am confident it's going to keep my kids from getting an awful sunburn this summer.

We also got to review the Kids Herbal Armor Insect Repellant. It has a citrus smell to it and sprays on to make application easy. If it keeps the bugs from biting the kids...it's worth every cent.

To enter this giveaway, you must:
  • 1st head over to their website at http://www.allterrainco.com/ and leave a comment about a product you would love to try
  • 2nd follow my blogspot and leave a comment that you do
  • 3rd tweet about this giveaway and leave a comment that you did
This giveaway will end June 5, 2009 and is open to US Residents only!

Thank you All Terrain for allowing the kids and I to try out your products. I am confident these products will help protect my children's skin from sunburns and bug bites during the warm and muggy summer months ahead.

CleatSkins for Golfing ~ Father's Day Giveaway ~

How many of your husbands golf? How many of your husbands could totally use a product that makes their "golfing" cleats street safe so that they don't scratch your floors (when they are in your yard practicing their putting & have to come in to use the bathroom), in your cars (when they are dirty and grassy from playing a round) and in the clubhouse restaurant (when they are taking a break from the game to have a drink or some food, and don't want to have to take off their shoes). http://www.cleatskins.com/

I just reviewed the product CleatSkins the other day and fell in love with the fact that they make my son's football cleats safe and protected when he wears them (and my hardwood floors too, for that matter) off the football field. It's like he has on a pair of tennis shoes when he has put his CleatSkins over his cleats... They are flexible, durable and such an amazing invention!

In honor of all those "Golfing Father's" out there, CleatSkins is giving away a pair of GolfSkins to (1) lucky One Bored Mommy viewers.

To enter this giveaway you must...
  • 1st visit their website at http://www.cleatskins.com/ and tell me what color you would want for that "special father" in your life

  • 2nd become a follower of this blogspot and leave a comment that you are

  • 3rd tweet about this giveaway on twitter and come back and leave a comment that you did so

  • 4th become a Cleatskins follower on twitter at : http://twitter.com/Cleatskins
This giveaway will end on June 5, 2009 and is open to US residents only!

Thank you to all those golfing daddy's out there. Thank you to Cleatskins too for hosting such an amazing giveaway!

The Tie Bar

As Father's Day approaches, I am left with the dilema...what to get my husband. He's 6ft 4 and has a professional job, where he enjoys dressing up for work.

http://www.thetiebar.com/

I came across
The Tie Bar (love the name by the way) and fell in love with the idea of a one stop shop with nothing but TIES and their prices are amazing. They have an enormous selection of eye catching, breathtaking ties, bow ties, ascots, etc. They even have XL length ties (which totally sparked my interest for my husband, who always has trouble finding ties that are long enough).
They offer gift certificates (so he can pick the ones he loves) and even offer custom logo neckties (for those who like to show their support for businesses or causes). Their ties are 100% silk, handmade and $15 each ($20 for the XL). You can't go wrong with a gift like this for that special guy in your life.
Please head over to http://www.thetiebar.com/ and shop now for that special "Father" in your life. Give him a gift he can keep on wearing throughout the entire year.

I remember walking into my sons room a million times every night to do the "breath-check". Sometimes I'd stand there and stare so hard to make sure he was breathing and those moments were like centuries waiting to see if his chest would rise. This time around, I'd love a little piece of mind and it would be much better not to have to stand there in the dark and peer at my child's chest with my own heart stopping in anticipation.shel704 at aol dot com

Thank you NewBaby.com and Momtv.com

I won a "Vado" Video Camera from Newbaby.com and Momtv.com during the "Mom's Night Out" twitter party. I'm pretty sure I even blogged about it after I won cause I was so excited!

It came in the mail yesterday and I was so excited to use it, I ran out and tried it out...
video

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I can't wait to start vlogging about everything. I have a feeling that my businesses are going to be so glad I won this camera!

Disclaimer: I am not a professional actress or model, just a stay at home mommy of four...so I do not claim to look perfect, act perfect or be perfect in any vlogs featured on this blogspot. LOL! Just thought I'd give that heads up! LOL!

NYC got invaded by the Hutson Family...and it was a breastfeeding extravaganza...

On Saturday, our family & a couple out of town friends, took the train to NYC (for our first trip to the BIG APPLE). We went into Grand Central Station, went to the Empire State Building, walked down Time Square (which was my favorite part), went to FAO Schwarz toy store and even Central Park. It was an amazingly long day with five kids in tow (our friend's daughter who is six was with us too), but we all survived and managed to thoroughly enjoyed the sites and sounds of NYC to the fullest.
This is Mason and I waiting for the train to pick us up (I carried him all day in the Parents of Invention Mai Tei carrier and it worked great)...
Breastfeeding Mason as everyone enjoyed hot dogs from a NYC hotdog vendor (who also tried to pull a quick change artist move and was caught red handed)... This is me, breastfeeding Mason on the steps of Carnegie Hall...LOL!And here is Mason and I in front of the FAO Schwarz store...(four stories of toys...toys...toys...) Our kids were in heaven and I even got to play on the "BIG" piano. So much fun!

I am so excited to go back to NYC on June 11th for a http://www.chicmommagazine.com/ event at the Sephoria store. That's going to be so much fun.

BIC Soleil Bella Disposable Razors ~Product Review & Coupon Giveaway~

Shaving your legs...you know...one of the joys of being a woman! The thrill of the first time, the annoyance of the rest. LOL! I remember being so excited to finally shave my legs for the first time. Anticipation had built up for about a year, since my other friends in school had already started shaving theirs. LOL!

As the years have gone on, I have been less than excited about shaving. Especially since I have children and less time to really take "GOOD" care of my body and self. As I am approaching midlife, I realize that it does feel great to have smooth legs that are effortless and easy to maintain.

I have always used disposable razors to shave with. Typically I purchase BIC brand, because they have a name I can trust to be worth the money invested.

I am a BZZAgent (http://www.bzzagent.com/) and was recently sent a new product, just released to the market to try out. It's called BIC Soleil Bella. I have to admit, I have found a new passion for shaving again because of this product. This amazing pack of (3) disposable razors has 4 blades per razor (yes, so those of us with thicker hair don't have to worry, cause it gets the job done) and is designed for easy rinsing. It also has a moisture strip with coco milk, which makes shaving smooth, close and effortless.

I would recommend, if you're in the market for some new disposable razors that you give the BIC Soleil Bella a try. I was given a pack of 10 ($3 off) coupons for anyone willing to send a self addressed stamped envelope to me...I'll mail one out to you (remember I only have ten, so leave a comment on this post and I'll get you set up with my mailing address). Using this coupon will make the product 1/2 off when you go to purchase it! What a savings! I actually just saw some of these in Target today while I was shopping!

Also, I would love it if you'd visit www.chatthreads.com and insert the conversation thread: 101-242-473554 and let them know how you heard about this product. THANKS in advance for your help!

Thank you BIC and Bzzagent.com for allowing me the chance to try out the new BIC Soleil Bella razors.

Vintage Fringe ~Product Review~

I guess you could say I am a feminine lady. I love lace and bows and frilly things. LOL! As far as clothes are concerned, I love to feel like a WOMAN...sexy, beautiful, but tastefully clothed.http://www.vintagefringe.com/

When I came across Vintage Fringe, I had a feeling I would fall in love with their products and sure enough I did! Their selection of clothing seemed like it was hand picked just for me. Like my own personal shoppers went out and found all the items I would love to wear...and would look great on a tastefully dressed mommy of four. LOL! Dainty details about their items showed that they took pride in providing women with clothing that will make them feel very ladylike.

Vintage Fringe carries brands like:
AlixK
Alternative Apparel
Awake Couture
Ella Moss
Joy Joy
La Befana
Laurie B.
Splendid
Sweet Pea
Velvet
Zooey

The shirt I got was from Splendid and it's flowy, light, has adorable puffy sleeves and rouching on the top. The light pink color is perfect for springtime. I also received their "Fringe Benefits" Vintage Fringe tee shirt...which is included with every order right now.

If your a woman like me, I suggest you check out Vintage Fringe's online store at http://www.vintagefringe.com/ and shop away! They have an amazing selection and appear to carry only quality items that are handpicked to make you feel great!

Girls Girls Girls Daisy's Designs ~ Product Review and Giveaway ~

I'm a big time bow fan! Have loved bows since the day my oldest daughter Brooklyn was born. Even before that probably, but my husband wouldn't let me put them on my son! LOL! I am also a huge supporter of SAHM businesses (Stay At Home Mom). http://www.girlsgirlsgirls.etsy.com/

This busy mommy of three has an amazing business started! Girls Girls Girls Daisy's Designs offers not only hairbows, but headbands and hats too. These are delicate & girlie and everything that a mommy would love to put on her daughter to "GUSSIE HER UP"!

We got the pleasure of reviewing a bow/headband combo. The colors are gorgeous, the ribbon is very nice quality and the bow is adorable. It has aqua blue rhinestone accents in the middle and it really makes the bow pop. What I like about this combo is that it can be worn as a head band or alone...so my girls (both of them) can wear it. Payton doesn't always wear headbands, but she feels pretty when she does...and Brooklyn refuses to (cause she thinks they are for baby's, LOL).
Girls Girls Girls Daisy's Designs is offering "an item of your choice" from her etsy store to one fortunate One Bored Mommy Viewer. To enter this giveaway, you must go to her site at http://www.girlsgirlsgirls.etsy.com/ and look around. Come back and comment on your favorite hairbow, headband or hat. You can enter a second time if you're a follower of this blog (just make sure to leave a seperate comment that you do). Your third entry can be if you tweet about this giveaway (just make sure you leave a seperate comment that you did). I'll even give you a fourth entry if you purchase something from her store and come back and tell me what you bought. MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE YOUR E-MAIL address in each comment so I can contact you if you're the winner. This giveaway will end on May 28, 2009 and is open to US Residents!
Thank you Girls Girls Girls Daisy's Designs for letting the girls and I review your products. I am very impressed with your amazing hairbows and will be coming back for more.

I don't know...just feel like sharing...have a giggle on me!

FOR A GOOD GIGGLE! Here are a couple pictures of me during my last pregnancy with Mason (baby #4). LOL! I guess you have to know me, but I am very "spirited" (once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader?), I guess would be a good word to describe me. I don't let a little (or big) belly get in my way of being goofy. Especially with my kids.
This last picture is the last picture I had before I delivered. LOL! He weighed 8 lbs 6 ounces (at one day shy of 38 weeks) and people kept asking me if I was pregnant with twins. I WAS HUGE (but all out in front)! Even more entertaining was the comments I got from people when I was out shopping with the other three kids and my big ol' belly! LOL! I know some people thought I was nuts (or of a certain religious background). Little did they know, we just love our kids and wanted to have more & were blessed that GOD provided our desire.
Anyway, I don't know why, but I felt like sharing. Maybe there are some mommies out there that needed to see me being silly...
**
P.S. I used Bella Bands for the entire pregnancy. I LOVED THEM because I could wear my normal shirts (what I have on in the last picture) and the Bella Band covered the rest. If you are pregnant and have not purchased any before, I recommend them! Sometimes maternity clothes can get tiresome (at least for me), so wearing some of my normal tees with the Bella Band under them helped me spruce it up a little.

Payton and I are on Wouldn't it B Nice website...

Check it out! I got an e-mail yesterday from the owner of Wouldn't it B Nice and she said that the pictures of Payton & me from my feature about them, were now appearing on her homepage of her business:

http://www.wouldntitbnice.com/

Watch the slideshow (it takes a second for it to start, so don't push anything) Payton is the fourth picture (holding a bookmark) and I am the sixth picture (in the brown shirt). Pretty cool! Made me feel special! LOL! Thanks Carrie!

P.S. I made my first $$ as a mommy blogger yesterday. Belly Dance Maternity contacted me about my write up on the Glamourmom nursing tank and asked if they could buy a link to it. They sell the Glamourmom nursing tanks and wanted to link their product to a mommy's first hand experience with it (giving the product credibility). YAY! I'm so excited! Good things are really happening and a lot of the credit goes to you...my faithful readers! THANK YOU!

Putumayo Kids European Playground ~CD "LIVE" GIVEAWAY~

I have told you all before, my kids & I love music! Music in all different styles! I love to think that my kids are cultured musically, but maybe I'm just foolin' myself! LOL! Anyway, I told you a few weeks ago about a couple CD's that we had the opportunity to review.
www.putumayo.comOne was Putumayo Kids "European Playground". This is their newly released compilation of songs that will give your kids some culture (music sung in other languages) and inspire them through music. This amazing CD gives children a fun filled musical tour of Europe without packing a suitcase! My kids love it. The first song on the CD is called "Trampolin" and yes...it's kinda like listening to someone jumping on a trampoline. My kids get very excited when they hear music that sounds like activites they love to do. LOL! Trampoline's are one of their favorite activities, so this song was a big hit.
