The Flu Has Attacked Our House For The Second Year In A Row...

My worst fear, for this winter season was getting the flu. Last year, our entire family got the Type A flu and we were sick, LITERALLY SICK, for an entire 7 days. So sick that our little guy had an overnight stay at Yale Pediatric Intensive Care Unit because of his breathing. Once one of us started feeling better, someone else got worse. It was a really awful and tough week, especially since we had just moved cross country to a new home and had no friends or family around to help us out.

Yesterday morning, we got confirmation that my fear was unavoidable. Our family has the flu again. The doctor is pretty sure it's the swine flu, but said that it was silly to test...so here we are again...the kids are home from school at least for the next five days. My husband is still feeling okay, so he's heading into work today! Thankfully, no one is puking (as of yet), but we are running high fevers, achy, I have had the worst headache for the past few days that I can't seem to shake, etc.

So...I apologize! I am behind on announcing winners (don't worry...they will be announced soon). I have more products to review & tell you all about. But everything is going to be on hold for a little while, as we try to get our family well again. I hope you'll understand. If you can imagine having the flu and then adding four little ones to care for while you're feeling down & out, then you'll know what my husband and I are going through.

Do You Use "Bummas" At Diaper Or Bath Time At Your House? We Do Now!

Yes, I said "BUMMAS". Any ideas what I am talking about? You know, it never fails that just when you get your brand new baby home from the hospital and you take that first diaper (or secnd or third even) off, you get greeted with a stream (doesn't matter if it's a boy or girl) of nice warm liquid. UGHHH! Or you just finished cleaning off your baby's bottom and find that there is still to much residue and wetness from the wipe you used...so you blow and wait before putting on their diaper again. Maybe you've been yet to find the perfect bathtime washcloth for your kids? One that is soft, durable, & will last longer than your little one is wearing diapers!Bummas is a parent invented product for those very reasons! These bright, cotton terry cloth washcloth can be used for a number of things. Diaper changes, as a wipe itself (if you're into going "green" and not using disposable wipes), as a bathtime washcloth, etc. The uses are innumberable and I think you're going to love what you find in the product itself.
We got the opportunity to get a first hand experience with Bummas (sent to us free of charge). My opinion...I wished that I had, had these four kids ago. I say that a lot, right? Seriously, these would have probably made it through all four of my kids and then some. They are heavy enough to handle the washing, wearing and tearing and soft enough to not irritate my kids skin when I use them. The pack we received has 10 amazing rectangular cloths (5" x 7") with colorful stitching along the edges. I love that this pack we received can be for boys or girls, since we are a house mixed with both.
Know someone getting ready to have a baby? Do you have a newborn or infant and think this might be a product you could use? Then I suggest you head over to the Bummas site at and check out their product in more detail. I think you'll like what you find! I was not paid to do this product review!

We Love Painting Our Piggies With Piggy Paint!

Every little girl that I know loves to have her "piggies" painted. My girls are no exception! Finger nail painting is something that my girl's look forward to, as a bonding time with mommy. It makes them feel a little more grown up and they love to sit and admire their beautiful nails when we are finished. I am always concerned about the fumes with regular finger nail polish...and I knew there had to be a safer alternative for kids out there somewhere. The thing I like about "Piggy Paint"...the nail polish does not smell like regular nail polish...there is barely an odor at all. They offer tons of fun & vibrant colors (each with a fun name), & it dries to a hard durable finish (which is great for kids who are tough on their hands), so it will last.
Our family received the "Girl's Rule" color polish and a container of the remover (free of charge) to try out for ourselves. My girl's were so excited about the opportunity of having their nails painted...and I got 100% cooperation in trying it out. The nailpolish is not completely odor free, but it extremely less intense smelling than regular nail polish. I was amazed at how well it held up on my girl's nails. They are far from delicate with their hands and it didn't chip off immediately after we were finished and it was dry. It lasted longer than normal. The nail polish remover, that came with it, is amazing too! It does not smell at all...it's completely odorless, it's non-toxic (which is a must around children) and made from natural ingredients. It has no Acetone , is Hypoallergenic, and is Biodegradable (which is excellent for the environment). It also works great and takes the polish right off! FYI...it works with regular nail polish too. My neighbor called me the other night, after her daughter spilled an entire bottle of nail polish on their newly tiled basement floor and the Piggy Paint Polish Remover is what saved their tile. It took it completely off!We aren't the only family that loves Piggy Paint. Tori Spelling just hosted a birthday party for her daughter Stella and had Piggy Paint there for the fun and festitivies and it was a huge hit there as well!
I recommend that, if you have a little girl, that you consider checking out Piggy Paint's Polish and purchase some for your little "Christmas Present" this year. This would make a perfect gift for a friend or stocking stuffer for your little one. Use the code: BORED15L to receive 15% off until January 31, 2010 and they offer free shipping on orders over $25. They also offer wholesale discounts for orders going to boutiques & online store sites for re-sell.
Thank you Piggy Paint for making my girl's day with their new "Girl's Rule" polish. I think they would agree with the name and how awesome we think your products are too!

Do Your Kids Love iCarly As Much As Mine Do?

One of our family's favorite shows, right now, is iCarly. It airs on Nickelodeon and my husband & I will both admit that we enjoy it almost as much as the kids. The story line goes something like this: 3 teenagers have a web show called iCarly. On this show they do silly things, interview funny people & always end up having lots of laughs. This is a show that both my older kids and my 3 year old enjoy!

So, this year for Christmas...my oldest daughter put the iCarly text messenger on the top of her list of MOST WANTED toys from Santa. She also wanted the iCarly SAM remote.

Now, I'll admit it...the kids who act on this show are REALLY GOOD ACTORS (compared to acting back in my childhood days). Sam is my favorite character on the show. She's rambunctious, tough, & so funny too. She makes me laugh! This girl's character cracks me up!

So, thanks to Playmates Toys, we got the chance to review (free of charge) the iCarly Sam Sound Effects Remote. MY KIDS WERE A LITTLE MORE THAN EXCITED WHEN IT ARRIVED, to say the least! Since it arrived when my older two were at school, my three year old got the chance to check it out. I think her pictures say it all! She pushed all the buttons and I could see her imagination wheels start spinning. I love it! Creativity started oozing out of her pores. When the older two got home, they had big plans. They wanted me to tape them doing a short iCarly show. So, on the spot, they pulled out this video clip:

video

This fun interactive remove has an applause button, boo button, random dancing button & sound bytes sound effects button. It's extremely similar to the one Sam uses on the iCarly t.v. show. My kids believe that it IS the REAL one! It appears, they all are enjoying playing with it and it has evoked some creative thinking in my kids, as they come up with iCarly shows on their own!
To funny, right? If you're not familiar with iCarly, I suggest you check it out on Nickelodeon. If you're not familiar with the cool toy line that iCarly has out right now, I'd suggest you run to your nearest toy department (in stores like Target, Walmart & ToysRus) and purchase these for gifts this holiday season! I have a feeling they are going to sell out fast. Santa is already having trouble finding the iCarly Messenger in a few select online stores.

Thanks Playmates Toys for sending us this cool new toy! You couldn't have made my kids day any brighter! They love their new iCarly Sam Sound Effects Remote!

One Of My Favorite Broadway Shows Is Celebrating It's 50th Anniversary - THE SOUND OF MUSIC

"The Hills Are Alive With the Sound Of Music"...and our house is too, with the new Sound of Music CD playing in the background! The Sound of Music was one of my favorite movies growing up, but 6 years before the movie with Julie Andrews, a Broadway Musical lauched the inspired it all! There was something about the music, the story, the main character's ZEST for life. This musical is an absolute classic and it's celebrating it's 50th anniversary by producing an amazing POP OUT BOOK and CD. We go the opportunity (free of charge) to review both the music from the amazing CD & the Classic Collecible Pop-Up Book.

In the
50th Anniversary Edition of "The Sound of Music" CD, Masterworks Broadway has restored the original cast recording in a new edition that features three unusual bonus tracks, extensive liner notes about the show's history by Bert Fink of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, and rarely seen photos of the recording sessions, held November 22, 1959, in Columbia Records' celebrated 30th Street Studios.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Sound of Music Pop-Up Book by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing is a collectible that will be in our family library for many, many years to come.
videoMy kids (and myself included) were truly taken by the magnificent detail that went into the construction of this book. No child will be bored looking at all the intricate details that went into the illustration, production and engineering of this amazing book. Maria spins on the top of the hill on the very first page of the book...LITERALLY SPINS! This is more than a typical book, because it's truly interactive with the reader! This will be something I look forward to showing my grandkids someday!
As the Christmas Season approaches, what an amazing option for those "The Sound of Music" lovers in your life. They will be just as impressed with the beautiful storybook & the musical CD.

Thanks to Sony Music, I have the amazing opportunity to offer (1) Lucky Reader the chance to win this 50th Anniversary Edition CD. Could that winner be you?

Is There Anything Better Than A Cuddly Warm Pair Of Pajamas In The Winter Time?

I love pajamas. I love the coziness I feel when I can undress from a long day, snuggle up in a chair and catch my favorite t.v. shows after the kids are tucked into bed. Even better, crawling into my bed in my nice warm pajamas and zooming off to sleepyland! And I'll admit, I am never in a hurry, in the morning, to get myself dressed when I have on pajamas that are comfortable, warm and amazingly soft.

So, why am I talking about pajamas? I have to tell you about a company that you're going to be spending some money at this winter...and I am telling you just in time for the holidays, when everyone likes to buy matching pajamas for the family for Christmas.

SleepyHeads has a full range of pajamas for the entire family. They offer an amazing (HUGE) selection and great prices too. Their pajamas have been seen on several famous t.v. shows, like the Bachelor & My Name Is Earl & and featured in tons of magazines like Glamour.

I got the opportunity to review (free of charge) a pair of SleepHead pajamas and when they arrived, I couldn't wait to get in them, cozy up in a chair and enjoy a hot cup of hot chocolate. They just looked warm and inviting. They are soft cotton and so comfortable. Definitely something I am going to wear through the entire winter. The cute flowers and the satin ribbon details, make this a pair of pajamas that I feel attractive in & relaxed wearing at the same time. Wouldn't you feel great in a pair of pajamas like these?

Guess what? SleepyHeads knows that I am not the only one that likes to have a nice pair of pajamas to wear during the cold winter months...and to make sure you check out their amazing selection, they are offering (1) lucky reader the chance to pick (1) pair of "any" (adult or children's) of their SLEEPYHEADS brand pajamas from their online store.

Just A Rim Full Of Sugar Helps The Medicine Go Down?

Can I have a raise of hands of those of us parents, who have children that "HATE" taking their medicine when they are sick? I mean...to the point where you practically have to sit on them, hold their mouth open and pour it in (fingers crossed), that they swallow it and don't spit it back out at you? Thankfully, for the most part, my kids have been pretty good medicine takers...but I have observed other parents struggling to get the meds in their kids bellies! I may have just the solution for these parents...Wasn't it Mary Poppins that sang, "Just a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down?" Maybe she really had something there! Here's a product that plays on that idea a little. Kid Cupz are medicine cups that have a rim of flavored sugar crystals...making taking medicine a "treat" for your kids. Don't believe me? Their logo is "Takes the ick out of SICK"!

We got the opportunity to review Kid Cupz (sent to us free of charge) in all four of their delightful flavors. We got a box of Sour Cherry, Blue Raspberry, Watermelon and Green Apple. Each box contains 6 pre-sugared cups that are ready for the meds to be poured into. Now, I will admit that my kids have been pretty cooperative in taking their meds (for the most part), but when these cups arrived...this made taking medicine a whole different ball game. Not that they were looking for a reason to take medicine (okay, maybe a little), but since I have a little one that has been teething and in need of ibprofen during the day, he was the perfect candidate to try these out. The verdict? Not only did he not mind taking the medication, he got every last lick out of it, while was busy getting all the sugar crystals off the cup! LOL! Hilarious, but I didn't have to worry about him not getting the entire dose of ibprofen. He took it willingly and enjoyed the reward after, as well! Kid Cupz are starting to be sold in national chain grocery stores in a few states already...but can also be purchased online by CLICKING HERE !
If your child is one of these difficult children (THE ONES THAT DON'T LIKE TO WILLINGLY TAKE THEIR MEDICINE), I would recommend that you let your child pick their favorite flavor to try out and see if this makes your medicine delivery much easier than ever before. I have a feeling you might be stocking Kid Cupz in your medicine cupboard for those unexpected medication administrations! LOL!
Thanks Kid Cupz...you've just made the "giving medication" part of my job a whole lot sweeter!

Comfort & Style Go Hand-In-Hand With Dadoo Kids

My kids are, just that...KIDS! I except that, on a daily basis, they are going to get dirty, play at a lot and sometimes even get in trouble. Isn't that what goes along with being a kid? Fun, energy, excitement, adventure, curiosity, innocence, and bliss could describe my kids mindsets from one minute to another during the day. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with them...guess I'm not as young as I used to be. I love to find clothing companies that reflect the pure joy of just being a kid.I think this company has nailed it. Dadoo Kids is a clothing company inspired by kids enjoying the moments as being kids. This mother of two clothing designer put a lot of thought into what would make the perfect casual, comfy and unique clothing line. That's where Dadoo Kids was inspired!
We got the pleasure of reviewing (free of charge) their 100% organic Helicopter Graphic Tee for our 15 month old. When the box arrived, the shirt was wrapped in tissue with a cute little sticker closure. Perfect for gift giving! Inside, this shirt emitted the energy of BOY! 100% perfect for my little guy! He's rough, he's tough, he loves things that intrique all little boys...like helicopters and airplanes. PERFECT!
This shirt fit him great too. I loved that it's a little longer than a normal tee...making sure that it covers his little "fluffy" tummy. I layered it over a long sleeved tee for the winter, but this is also perfect for this coming SPRING (which isn't far off, believe it or not).

Would you be interested in checking out Dadoo Kids line? Do you think they might have a piece of clothing that would work great for your active child? Well, Dadoo Kids thinks they do! In fact, they are offering (1) Lucky viewer the opportunity to win (1) tee shirt of their choice from the SPRING 2010 clothing line.
