Pray For Miley Cyrus...

Who are your kids role models? Do you ever consider praying for them? I think we sometimes don't realize the amount of influence that "young hollywood" has on our children. But do you consider the pressure these young stars are under? Not only is the world at their fingertips, but they also have eyes constantly watching them and they are held on pedestals...only to fall off when they (like every human being) make a mistake. So, our family was riding in the car this weekend and we were jamming to the Hannah Montana movie soundtrack. Our entire family loves & admires Miley/Hannah and as we were appreciating her music and watching our children get excited singing her lyrics, my husband stopped me. He said, "You should do a blog about PRAYING for Miley Cyrus!" At first, it struck me as funny...but then I really started thinking about it! He was right! We have two very impressionable daughters (see pictures above) that look up to her as a ROLE MODEL. Maybe the single act of me praying for her, or requesting that not only myself, but my readers do the same can make a difference in her life. Though she will never REALLY know about it, this act of love could help keep her from straying into all the avenues that other YOUNG HOLLYWOOD stars have stumbled upon. Ones that lead to alcoholism, drugs, sex and more. How she dresses, how she acts, and decisions she makes can all make a HUGE impression on my girls! So I want to help her stay strong through prayer!
I am going to request that, YOU (yes you) my reader...take a few moments out of your busy day and pray with me (if you don't pray, at least have positive thoughts towards that young hollywood star in particular that your child looks up to). You don't have to pray for Miley if you don't want to do, but consider praying for "Young Hollywood" in general. Pray that they can be the role models that our kids can truly "look up to". We know that everyone makes mistakes, but by the act of our praying, that we help keep them a little stronger (in their faith if they have any) & shielded from stumbling into things that will send their lives into a downward spiral and give our kids images to mimic, that are not what we are hoping and praying for their lives too.

What do you think? Good idea? Are you in? Leave a comment...please! If Miley is not the star you'll be praying for, then tell me who your children look up to and please keep them in prayer! Thanks!

I have a 5yr old grand daughter who really loves Miley Cyrus too (Hannah Montana)! I will gladly join you in praying for her to have the strength & guidance to avoid the perils of public life. Thanks for the idea!

Wouldn't it be nice to have some female actresses/singers remain good role models throughout their careers? Young girls' self-esteem need help to become and/or remain confident in their own skin!

WOw, Courtney, you have a very insightful husband, I guess from having daughters and seeing the influence!

My 22 year old really adores Britney Spears even though the attire and some lyrics were terrible, we let her be a part of following SOME of her artistry. It was sad to see her life fall apart. I mean, we had cute little stage singing dolls of her one year and a couple years later she was fighting to see her child. SO much bad influence and pressure by producers, fans, managers...etc.

Our 10 year old LOVEs Taylor Swift and Miley as well. It is so scary to see so many young artists who fall under the spell of the fame and money...and fall flat or get into addictive behavior. AND we as parents to the kids that adore them and look up to them have a LOT to explain when things go wrong. Remember Lindsay Lohan in the Parent Trap remake...one of THREE of my daughter's fave movies for a long time. HOW do we explain what happened to this child?

YES, prayer is powerful and changes everything. We pray for our own, but need to send them much farther away...where so many are tempted and NEED them badly!

You are SO cool...I just love your ideas, even if this one was partially your hubby's!

I agree! I'll be praying too! It's important that we lift up those that our children look up to...even if it's their own parents we are praying for. :) Thanks for this post! Great reminder that we are all human...and it never hurts to say a little prayer for someone today!

You're right on target with this, and I'm in. I don't have daughters, but I have nieces who are both "tweens." I just prayed for Miley, that she would be able to stay grounded and would be a good role model for the kids who look up to her.

WTG - more parents need to be concerned about who their kids are idolizing and PRAY for them specifically. These STARS indirectly have a huge influence on who are kids are and want to become! Let's pray for them to stay strong, walk the right path and keep their heads firmly planted on their bodies and not in the clouds!

I typed in "Pray for Miley Cyrus" under google and found your blog. I will be agreeing with you in prayer for her to be freed from the lies of sex and hollywood. She has such potential to be a true role model. What has happened? UGG!

LORD God, bless the Cyrus family. May you make them into pillars of righteousness, may they be strengthened through all knowledge of you, may they fulfill their calling in life and turn the hearts of many toward you. Let not the evil one have any foothold over their lives but let the wicked instead become ashes under the soles of their feet. We bless them in Jesus' name.

i realize this was posted a while ago, but i stumbled upon it, being such a huge Miley fan I'm always looking for encouragment. Not many people, even the people in my church realize that they should be praying for Miley no matter what. this was such a confidence booster, sometimes i think im the only one praying for her
