We Got To Meet & Greet Some Amazing Animals Today Thanks To Worlds Of Discovery!

As most of you will remember, I teased you a little with the fact that I was heading to NYC today to meet some amazing & exotic animals up close and personal. But you have no idea the TRULY amazing experience it was for us! I felt like a true VIP! Today in blustery cold NYC, Seaworld Busch Garden's "Worlds Of Discovery" booth was set up amongst hundreds of other exhibitors at the New York Travel Show. (The tickets for our show were purchased by Worlds of Discovery so we could gain entrance to their exhibit). When we arrived, there was a long line of excited consumers, waiting to get inside & see what amazing travel opportunities and adventures they could learn about and purchase. Most of the exhibitors were offering discounts on trips, special prices on cruises and world travel adventures that could take you to the far ends of the earth. Any travel adventure you could think of going on was represented there. Of course it made me wish we had thousands of dollars to spend to take the family on many fantastic vacations! However, we made a bee line for the "Worlds Of Discovery" booth. The "Worlds Of Discovery" is an entire conglomeration of companies including: Discovery Cove, Aquatica, Sea World, Busch Gardens and Adventure Island. Each park is a place I know our entire family would enjoy visiting and hopefully (fingers crossed), someday we can make that happen. But for now, we got to pretend we were there and meet some of their amazing animal friends one on one. I really feel honored to have had this opportunity.

We were introduced to Nick Gollattscheck, Director of Marketing Communications for Orlando Parks. He greeted us and welcomed us to meet "Dennis Hopper", a six month old red kangaroo that was all bundled up in it's little warm pouch. ABSOLUTELY adorable! I had no idea that kangaroos are soft as rabbits, but this little guy was super soft and super cute too!
Then we got to meet two sweet Magellanic Penguins. Their names were Pete & Penny. I learned that these penguins do not require a cold living environment like some penguins. They prefer temperatures in the mid 50's to low 70's. So the exhibit hall was the perfect temperature for them. Their animal ambassador explained to me that these two had a baby last year together. So they are a cute couple!
We also met a black & white Ruffed Lemur who had the brownest eyes and the coolest hands. His hands actually look like human hands and fingers. He even wrapped all of them around my pointer finger during one part of our meet and greet. I think he liked me! His fur kind of felt like a fuzzy cat and we heard he's quite comfortable in hotel rooms (his ambassador said even more comfortable than her)! This Kookaburra was kind of shy, but her male counterpart had a lot to say to us! He sang us a song and put on quite a performance. These are beautiful birds with amazing voices!
Here's a couple other critters we met too. This is the bearded dragon named Godzilla and a skink (though I cannot recall it's name).
But I have to admit...I got the biggest kick out of the 80 pound Burmese Python
All of the animals are flown in via airplanes for shows of this nature and even get their own seat on the plane. Check it out...we here are a few of their plane tickets. I also got to learn about their newest Busch Gardens attraction. It's called "Sesame Street Safari of FUN". It's 2.5 acres of rides, play areas, "Lights, Camera, Imagination" 4D movie and much more. This is coming to Busch Gardens this spring, but you can learn more about it by checking out . This is definitely an attraction I know that our children would absolutely love! If you CLICK HERE, you can register for a free PRESCHOOL pass (for ages 5 and under).

All in all, our time at the show was a one of a kind experience and we walked away with some amazing new experiences with animals we would have never had the opportunity to enjoy without the Worlds of Discovery's booth and invitation. I appreciate all of the "Worlds of Discovery" staff for being so informative and friendly with us. You can tell they really love what they do and they have a passion for these animals. So thank you! We can't wait till we have the chance to take our entire family to all of your wonderful parks.
You can also use the website to plan your next family vacation to these fanastic parks.

Protect Those Little Eyes This Spring/Summer With Adorable Junior Banz...

I'll admit it! I have been really bad about enforcing sunglasses usage with my kids. Maybe it's because I am bad about it myself. If I used them, my eyes would be much more protected and this horrible wrinkle that has formed from years of squinting at the sun would not be near as deep and defined. However, I know that it's important to protect their little eyes from the sun's harmful UV rays. That's why, we are fond of this company and all of their products! You may remember me doing a review of their Ski Banz this winter. If you'd like to read about it, CLICK HERE!
But with Spring/Summer right around the corner, we need eye protection that will not only be protective, but since I love for my kids to look great, I'd love for them to be stylish as well. I was thrilled with Baby Banz asked if we would like to review their Junior Banz Glasses. They sent us the Lilac Striped Junior Banz (sent free of charge) for my four year old to try out. Along with the glasses comes an adorable (matching) carry case and an easily attachable fabric strap. The verdict? She loved them! I love the fact that when she gets tired of wearing them, she will not loose them as easily because they are looped around her neck for easy carrying. Plus, I love that they come with a matching case, because they will be protected from scratches and filth when she's not wearing them. These Junior Banz Glasses fit sizes 4-10 and come in an array of colors and designs.
Baby Banz is so excited to share that they not only carry "baby" banz, but also children's, they would like to offer (1) Lucky reader their chance to pick their own "Junior Banz" for their child to wear this spring/summer. Getting excited?

Did I Mention...It's Pure Insanity Around Here! Day #3 Of The Insanity 60 Day Total Body Conditioning Program

The other morning, my husband called to me from upstairs. He was watching an infomercial for a workout program on dvd called "INSANITY". Being somewhat of a pessimist of infomercials, I watched it a chance to sink in. Since moving to Connecticut (a year ago), we have not worked out and it's starting to show. We are not OVERWEIGHT, but middle age (in our thirties) is starting to show up rather quickly and unflatteringly on our bodies. So he asked me, "What do you think?" "I think we should get this program and do it at 5am every morning together, to get in better shape". I, of course, laughed...because I knew that my husband is not a morning person and getting up that early to "work out" would not be easy. But I decided that if he was willing to do it with me, we could try this Insanity workout out.
So after checking out their website, further, I clicked the ORDER Button and the DVD's arrived shortly there after.

We started the workout program on Monday. It begins with a FIT Test...which you log your results onto a card, so you can keep track of your progress. Oh My Gosh! I am so out of shape, just doing this FIT TEST killed my body! Seriously! By Tuesday, I was hurting, but we got up and did our 5 am workout. I think both my husband and I wanted to cry half the way through the workout. It is INSANE! Plus, you're watching these individuals bounce around on the t.v. who's bodies are sculpted and toned to perfection, which doesn't help my self esteem at all.
Last night, Day #2, we took before pictures so we could track our progress. You're out of luck if you think I am going to share those pictures with you on here...but take my word for it, the camera doesn't lie! I wouldn't be caught dead in a sports bra and skin tight workout pants at the public gym if you paid me a thousand $$.
Anyway, this morning was Day #3 and my husband had to practically drag me out of bed. Why? My muscles are so sore, I can barely walk. How in the world was I suppose to "work out?" But we got the video going, started the workout and made it through another day of Insanity, but just barely! I have to keep reminding myself that it's going to pay off and be 100% worth all the pain. I know, NO PAIN, NO GAIN! But I really don't like self inflicting pain at all and have realized the past three days that I have done way to much whining about being sore. Being sore is GOOD! It means that I am working muscles that haven't been worked in so long, they are just starting to wake up again! Got to keep a positive attitude.
So, at the end of this 60 day program, if we send in our "before" and "after" pictures, we will receive these t-shirts (see above). And you better believe...if I make it through the 60 days of INSANITY workouts, I will be wearing that shirt proudly! I know my husband will too!

So I'll try the best I can to keep you updated on our progress and we'll see how Insanity changes my husband and my lives in the next 60 days...and hopefully beyond!
I was not paid to feature this review! My husband and I purchased this workout program, it was not donated to us!

Shift Your Habit - Save Money By Living Green Book Giveaway

How can that be? To me, when I think of going "GREEN", it sometimes means more expensive foods, organic products (which tend to cost more), etc. But can you really Live Green & Save Money at the same time? I received a book in the mail (sent to me free of charge from Engelman & Co) that has convinced me this just might be possible. Don't believe me? It's called "Shift Your Habit" by Elizabeth Rogers (who is also co author of the green book). This book is great! Not only does it introduce you to families that have actually put their preaching into practice and are saving money being "GREEN", but it also gives you helpful tips & hints on how to make your life easier, simplier and even more cost effective.
The book begins with a two page spread of "SUPER SHIFTS" or simple suggestions to KICK START this "shifting your habit" without putting much thought or effort into it. For instance, installing a water filtration system on your kitchen faucet can save you up to $885 a year. Simple, right? So why doesn't everyone just think up these ideas on their own? Because they need this type of book to remind them, suggest to them and convince them that it's possible.
Are you interested in Shifting Your Habit of spending money? Would you like to introduce your family to a "GREEN" lifestyle without breaking the bank (and actually saving money)? Then you will want to enter to win this amazing book. I have one copy to give away to (1) Lucky One Bored Mommy Reader!

Leaving A Legacy Of Faith To My Kids - Thanks to Monica Rich Kosann's Cross And Faith Necklace, Hopefully They Will Remember...

I would like to believe that when my time on earth is through, my kids (and friends and family for that matter) will remember me being a MOMMY (and woman) who had a lot of faith. Faith in our GOD, faith in love, faith in our family, faith in my kids and faith in myself too. Do you want to leave a legacy for your family to remember you by? If so, what would it be and why? Something to ponder and think about. Life comes & goes so quickly and we have to cherish every single moment we have.I was taken by the following woman's inspired jewelry collection. Not only are her pieces beautiful and made with exquisite details, but you can tell she puts a lot of heart into her designs, so they can be lasting family possessions. Things that you can truly pass down as a family heirloom. A solid memory of a loved one that will leave a lasting heartfelt impression on the person who receives it.I had the amazing opportunity to review (sent to me free of charge) Monica Rich Kosann's Cross & Faith Necklace. I chose this because I thought it was definitely something that my kids would be delighted to wear when I am my memory. I chose the sterling, because I am not a "GOLD" girl and feel it's a lot more subtle, although both choices are beautiful. So when the package arrived today, I was extremely excited to open it up and see what was inside. Presented in an amazing way, with lots of information, brochures and a little catalog for me to look through, I found this amazing Cross & Faith Necklace. The chain is lightweight and delicate (but absolutely lovely). The charms are extraordinary. The cross is presented on the smooth surface of the disc and a floral design is engraved on the back side.I love this, because my necklaces never seem to stay facing the right way and even if the cross side flips, it's still an amazing piece of artwork on my neck. The other charm is a FOB that has the word FAITH in block letters. It's bold but subtle as well. The necklace actually looks a lot bulkier on the website than it truly is in person. It's delicate, shiny and lovely! I am going to proudly wear this necklace and look forward to hopefully living up to my desire of leaving a legacy of being a woman of FAITH. This piece of jewelry will definitely be cherished by me!
Isn't it beautiful?
Not only does Monica create amazing jewelry, but she also sells her own unique collection of jewelry and home accessories. Today, Monica's brand-name jewelry, image cases and frames are sold in more than one hundred select stores across the country, including Bergdorf Goodman, Barney's, and Neiman Marcus. In 2008, Monica opened her own in-store boutique at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City. If you are looking for a gift idea for your Mother, your Grandmother, your sister or even a friend, I would highly suggest you consider something from the Fine Art Of Family online store. Or perhaps you can visit her in-store boutique in New York City personally. Use the Code OBM2010 to receive FREE SHIPPING on your order (till 12/31/2010).
Regardless, I truly believe that her work is something to be cherished and definitely pieces to keep in the family from generation to generation!
