Do You Show "FAVORITISM" In Your Family?

With four kids, with four different's sometimes very hard to treat everyone the "SAME".  I try to be consistent with discipline and standards...but honestly, each child reacts different to every situation.  One child might cry at the drop of a pin because they are honestly sorry for doing something wrong...while the other child might cross their arms, throw themselves down on the floor and refuse to say they are sorry, even though they know they are wrong.

So as my kids get older and I am having to learn strategies for discipline and rewards for my kids...I truly hope they don't feel that I am "favoring" one to another.  I love them all equally!  I REALLY DO!  They are all very different...but my MOMMY LOVE is generously spread out amongst the four, as best as it can be.

I know that some homes do.  In fact, growing up...I always felt that my mom favored my sister and my dad favored me.  Maybe it was just because I was a child and that's just how I saw it...but that's how I still, kind of see it now.  However, I know that both of my parents love me very much, regardless!  Did I grow up with a complex or feel less than because of it?  Not really...but I do think, when the kids are little, they don't see it, but as they get becomes much more noticeable if it's there at all.

Do you favor one of your kids to another?
Did you grow up in a house where favoritism was a problem?
Were you the child that grew up feeling "IN FAVOR" or "LESS THAN FAVORABLE"?

My daily prayer, as a mommy, is that when my kids are my age, they can look back and be thankful for a mommy that was loving, giving and fair.  One that made each of them feel equally important and equally loved!  One that tried her best to show no favoritism amongst her children!  I know, as they get older and bigger problems form...this could be quite a challenge, but I am praying that GOD gives me the ability to eb and flow through with LOVE being the ultimate goal.

This "BEING A MOMMY" job isn't it?

A Few Things I Miss...About Having A Baby In The House!

We are on to a new chapter of our lives...the "BABY FREE" chapter, which is all new to me.  Mind you...our youngest is 3...this is the longest stretch we've had without being pregnant or having a new baby since we've been together.  Our babies arrived every two years!

So a few things that I miss about having a baby in the house...
#1 - Watching my new baby sleep!  There is nothing quite as peaceful or sweet, than watching your newborn baby sleeping.  They snooze away, making faces, sometimes sounds, having dreams, and all the while you know that every hour they are sleeping, they are growing...changing and becoming the little person they will be.
#2 - A diaper butt!  OK...not talking about a diaper butt on a 2 year old toddler who should be using a potty, but the way a sweet newborn snuggles up, and their little hiney sticks up in the air.  If you've had a baby before, you know what I'm talking about!
#3 - Breastfeeding my new baby!  This is not a picture of my son when he was a newborn...not sure we took any...but there is nothing like that bonding time with a new baby.  Those first few weeks are rough and tough on a she learns to function...and deals with the soreness that comes along with breastfeeding.  But once you have it (I got lucky to have some great nursers), there is nothing in the world like that feeling!  I wouldn't trade that for the world!  I know my kids will be grossed out about it someday, but to was one of the little delights I got to enjoy, that came along with being a mommy.

So there you go...on to the new chapter, but will always miss a few things, here or we go along!  What about you?  Do you miss any stages in your children's life?  Stages that brought you extreme joy and happiness?  Feel free to leave a comment and share!

Self Check Out At The Grocery Stores - A HELP FOR MOMMIES OR A BIG HASSLE?

When I shop with the kids (especially all four of them at the same time) at the grocery stores, I look to be as quick and concise as we can get in and out with ease.  Typically these trips tend to be boring for the kids, highly stressful for me and I end up leaving the store forgetting one of the main things I went intentionally to shop for.

So...after reading the article on Yahoo this morning about "SELF CHECK OUT" lanes at the grocery stores...CLICK HERE...I have to tell you, I DO NOT LIKE THEM AT ALL!

A few reasons:
1st - Never fails that something I am buying scans wrong and I have to wait for a customer service rep come unlock the system so I can continue checking out!  Meanwhile, people behind me are getting frustrated and upset...which makes me feel extremely uncomfortable while I too, wait for help!  It's embarrassing!
2nd - Makes more work when it comes time to bag everything, if I am shopping for a lot of groceries, the moving belt is OVER FILLED and there is no room to put more until I bag what's already there...meanwhile, making sure that my kids are keeping their hands to themselves, no one is taking candy off the shelves, adding things to our basket, etc.
3rd - I think these systems are discarding people's (REAL PEOPLE's) jobs.  My aunt & uncle (both with disabilities and in the 50's) have worked as bagger's at the grocery stores in their town for 30+ years.  If all grocery stores change to this type of system...they will be jobless and hopeless.  These jobs keep them going, give them a social outlet, etc.  This makes me sad!
4th - It takes the grocery experience and makes it even more stressful for me, keeping track of coupons, making sure I've entered the right codes, unloading, bagging and reloading my groceries, etc.  I CAN do it, but since I don't see these systems lowering prices or adding convenience...why can't I have someone help me when I am getting ready to check out.  I like the personal interaction with the checker and bagger and keeps my stress level minimized!

Do I think it's great for a person who is buying one or two things and doesn't want to wait for me, or an old lady with a basket full to check out?  ABSOLUTELY...but I would hate to see an entire store resort to this type of check out.  I think I would avoid that store at all cost!

What are your thoughts?  Do you like these "SELF CHECK OUT" lanes at the grocery store?  Do you use them?  Do they make your life easier, quicker and simpler?  Do you feel the same way I do and avoid them?  I want to hear your thoughts!

I Want To Know: BLOGS or VLOGS? Which Do You Prefer?

Since I had a moment before the kids got up (hence the makeup free, awesomely" bed head" styled hair and PJ's)..I thought I'd ask a question that I have been curious about since yesterday!
My friend Danielle (who does the Trendiest Kids On The Blog) site with me went to SheStreams this weekend and evidentally, they are finding that blog readers would prefer video posts (VLOGS) to actual written posts about products.

So now I'm curious...what do you prefer?
Leave a comment and let me know...I want to make sure you love coming to the One Bored Mommy Blogspot and that it gives you all the visual stimulation you desire!

Are Diamond Earrings On Mommy's Christmas List This Year? After Reading This...They might Be!

One thing I have never of yet...are real, authentic "DIAMOND EARRINGS".  Honestly, until recently I really wasn't much into wear jewelry or accessorizing at all.  But now that I am, and I sometimes find myself drooling at things that sparkle and shine a little more often.  A display case in the mall, a television commercial about a jewelry store, etc.  They catch my eye...

This site...with BIRKS Diamond Earrings really caught my attention!  Why?  They have a pair that would fit every woman in AMERICA's style!
Perhaps you're a plain Jane kind of lady...these would be perfect!
How about something a little bit more sparkly and attention getting?
And I love the more artsy look of these ones!

Regardless your style or even your budget, CLICK HERE and window shop from the comfort of your own home...

Maybe you'll find a pair to add to your Christmas list this year!

I was compensated for posting this feature!  I have not owned any Birks Diamond Earrings!  I do not claim to know their quality or customer care.

Have You Heard About Dr. Wortman's AMAZING DIET For Diabetics?

With a Grandpa who suffered with Diabetes for many, many years...I know how hard it can be to find a diet that can satisfy and yet SUIT your managed lifestyle.  My poor grandma struggled to feed him correctly, keep his sugars in order and really could have used this information!
Maybe it would have prolonged his life?

So have you heard of Dr. Wortman and his amazingly healthy diabetic diet?
This Dr., after finding out that he had diabete, discovered that eliminating something from his diet (CLICK HERE to find out what that was) actually helped him feel better.  This diet, based on traditional Native American food, has offered impressive results.
If you know someone who has diabetes and is struggling with their current eating habits, perhaps suggesting they check out this diet could help improve their life!  Just saying...wouldn't it be worth a try at least?

I was compensated for posting this feature!  I do not have diabetes nor have I tried Dr. Wortman's Diet.

Have You Ever Heard A Chipmunk Talk? This One Had Lots to Say Today...

I heard this squeaking and squawking coming from outside today and had to run and grab my camera when I saw what was causing all the ruckus.
This little chipmunk reminded me of ME in chipmunk form.  Whatever it was was saying it with intensity and gusto and I thought it was to cute not to share with you guys!
It seems that the chipmunks and squirrels are out in full force today.  Our yard is hopping with them, as they are collecting acorns and jumping about in the grass and up the trees.  Guess they know that time of year has arrived too!  ADORABLE!

What Type Of Personality Are You? Have You Ever Tested To See?

In one of my husband's Master's Degree classes last year, they took a personality test (Jung Typology Test)...which he sent to me to take!

Have you taken a personality test before?

Not surprising...I was tested at 100% extroverted (both times I took the test)!  It's no wonder I get cabin fever in the winters on the East Coast when we are all stuck inside and I can't get out to socialize!

My type is: ESFJ (Extroverted 100%, Sensing 38%, Feeling 75%, and Judging 44%).

CLICK HERE if you want to take a test for yourself!  I'd love to hear your findings!  Were you surprised with the end result?  I always thinks it's fun to learn more about yourself and perhaps, by taking this'll learn something about yourself you didn't know!

LEAVE A COMMENT and let me know what you scored!

Taking JADE On A Walk Is No Longer A HASSLE...Thanks To "THE GENTLE LEADER" System!

I feel bad!  I'm going to make a confession to you!  I am bad about taking our dog for a walk!  As if it's not hard enough to have to keep my eyes on four kids walking/riding with us when we go, we also have a 90 pound dog, who literally drags me down the street! Making taking a walk QUITE a chore!  One that not only gives me a workout, but also makes me feel bad for our dog.  Have a look:
My solution so far, for training...has been a choker collar (which I feel is extremely unkind to her)...but she can slip other collars and when she pulls she needs to be stopped!
My friend recommended I try the "GENTLE LEADER" System.  She swears by it!  She said she wouldn't walk her dog without it!

After contacting were able to give it a go...a TEST actual system into place, for walking Jade without the hassle and struggle I typically go through.
This system comes with very specific directions and also a give you a run through of how to use the product positively and correctly.  This makes it less stressful & positive for both you and your dog.
So, today we gave it a try!  Keep in mind...this video is a shot of her very first try with the system.  I WAS AMAZED already (even for the first try) at how much easier it is to walk her.  I am in LOVE!  Seriously, would recommend this system (just like my friend did with me) to ANYONE and EVERYONE I meet!  Who could have imagined that walking a 90 pound dog could be such a cinch?

I am also excited that I have the opportunity to offer this "GENTLE LEADER" system to one of my lucky readers.  Do you have a dog that seems unwalkable?  YOU MUST enter this giveaway and give the Gentle Leader a try!  This system works for dogs of all sizes!

I've Just Got To Ask...Who's Going With Me?

Wonder where I'm asking you to go?
New York City...of course on New Years Eve this year!  I want to see the ball drop, "live and in person" in TIME SQUARE, ringing in 2012 in ultimate NEW YEAR's style.  I have to start planning now!
This is something I've always wanted to do.  My husband has already told me he won't go with me!  My friends from the East Coast think I'm crazy for even suggesting it!
Come on...someone has to have the same desire, right?  I mean, every year, Time Square is filled with party goers, waiting to celebrate the brand new year...and I want to be one of them!

So who's it going to be?  Do I have any takers?  Who wants to volunteer to stand with me on the cold, loud, crowded streets of NYC and watch as the NEW YEAR begins?

ANYONE?? this thing on??

Cheer Me Up...Share Your Excitement About Fall Arriving!

As you just read in the previous know that I am sad to see Summer go and Fall to arrive!  With that being said...
Leave your comment below about what is your favorite thing, what you look the most forward to, what you can't wait for...WITH FALL'S Cool ARRIVAL!

I can't wait to read & share your excitement with you!

Fall...I'm Just Not Ready For You Yet!!

As we've been waking up with a house in the 60's the past couple mornings...I know one truth to be inevitable...
FALL IS approaching and it's coming quickly!

But honestly, this 100% extrovert is not ready for the fall and winter months, because they mean a lot more indoor time, a lot less outdoor (socializing time) and several months of CABIN FEVER to kick in!

A few things I am going to miss seeing FALL makes it's grand entrance to the New England States:
My bare feet!  Yes...this Cali girl is all about going BAREFOOT.  Forget the pregnant part...this mommy would walk around all the time with no shoes on if she could!  But here in the New England States...SOCKS and BOOTS are a must!  So I guess I better start shopping for some cute pairs to keep me SMILING during the cold months ahead!
Mr. Sun!  Not going to lie...I need to (for my healthy emotional state of mind) see the sun everyday.  That honestly does not happen around here...and even far less in the Fall & Winter months.  The gloom and cloudy days ahead worry me already about my moods to come.  GOING TO invest in a sunlamp to keep some Vitamin D kicking in my system or perhaps I'll buy an endless tanning pass...just to warm myself up a little!
Strawberries!  This one might seem funny...but it's a fruit that my kids love eating, they are full of goodness (vitamins & antioxidants) and when they are no longer available in stores...I know it means that Fall & Winter have arrived fully!  You've got to love their natural sweetness too, right?  There's just something about those little red berries...especially the ones that come from California.  YUMMY!

So there you go!  If I seem a little mopey or down...perhaps it's because a few of these things are MISSING from my daily routine!  BARE WITH ME...fall and winter are only 2 of the 4 months and if I stay really busy with you guys...they should go quickly, right?  I mean...we have the HOLIDAYS (which I do love) to look forward to, too, right?

What do you miss about the Spring & Summer Months the most...when Fall approaches?  Want to share with me?  I'd love to hear yours...

Tonight I Had WAY TO MUCH FUN With The Webcam!

So, tonight I was sitting here...feeling a little goofy...watching t.v. by myself and I thought to myself, "how about I play with my webcam!" I did!
I made scary faces!
I made goofy faces!
I posed like I make my kids pose!
I even acted like I was sleeping...dramatically of course!
It was far to much fun!
For a person who loves to have her picture taken...having this webcam put this in a while new light!  You could be seeing a whole lot more of ME!  Just kidding...but on occasion, you might be seeing some funny pictures...because I thought it was fun!  Ha! Ha!
