Guess Who's Coming For A Visit...From TEXAS...After A Whole Year?

My parents, will be arriving tomorrow to stay for a week with us! 

We are all very excited to have them staying with us, to be able to make some cherished memories, have some laughs and enjoy every minute of their visit.  They will get to meet JADE (the puppy) for the first time, enjoy some earlier than normal CT snow (unless it melts between now and tomorrow) and spoil & enjoy their grand kids for a whole week!

If my postings are a little sporadic, I hope you'll understand...it's been a whole year! I will do the best I can to check in and keep on top of giveaway winners, etc.

My "BETTER CONNECTICUT" TV Appearance...Are You Curious How It Went?

It didn't! 

Are you shrugging your shoulders & shaking your head in disbelief?  I know I was...but what are you going to do?  Sometimes "LIFE HAPPENS"!

On Sunday, after my son's football game, my husband & him were involved in an accident that left my husband's car UNDRIVEABLE!  Thankfully, no one was hurt (though it gave me a rather large size adrenaline rush when I heard about it)...but his car was not salvageable.

This meant one thing...we were down to one vehicle and my husband's job (and car hunting) ranked supreme to my drive to film the segment on Tuesday for Better Connecticut TV (which I was not being paid to film).  Since I wasn't sure we would have another vehicle, I had to contact them and sadly cancel my appearance as part of the segment.  TOTALLY BUMMED & UPSET...but like I said, "sometimes life happens". 

Don't worry, I don't think this will be my last opportunity to make a tv appearance (at least I hope not) and I do have an adorable outfit (that my readers on facebook helped me choose which shoes to wear) to wear next time.  Even have some adorable "WOOBIE WEAR" accessories to spice it up if I want. 

So now I wait for the next opportunity to be in the SPOTLIGHT...

In Case You Missed It Last Year: HOLY SINFULLY DELICIOUS! This Recipe Is So Yummy...It's SCARY! This Carmel Apple Cake Is DIVINE!

Part of the reason I love this time of the year, is because it means that HUGE DINNER'S with FABULOUS FEASTS will be coming very, very soon to a table near you! 

But the best part (hands down) of every one of those meals (in my opinion)...

the DESSERT!

My husband came home yesterday from work with a grocery bag full of things and this newspaper article.

The recipe was taken from the Food Network Magazine and he was dying for me to make it, so we could try it.  I mean, it said, "SO YUMMY, It's Scary" in the title.  And seriously, anything titled...CARMEL APPLE CAKE, sounds positively scrumptious, right?

So, while my husband and son were at the football playoffs, I decided to undertake this baking process and try it on for size.  LITERALLY!  Per serving, this dessert offers: 658 calories, 21 grams of fat, 115 grams of carbs, etc.  You get the idea.  Not the best for us...but since we aren't going to be eating this every single night of our lives, it's not going to kill us to indulge a little, right?

The first thing I realized, was that I didn't own the right sized cake pan.  OH WELL...I just decided to make a longer and skinner cake instead...and you know what, it really didn't matter.  Though I didn't follow the rules to a "T" (cause I didn't want to put the apple in the middle with the stem hanging out), it turned out pretty amazing (and indulgent) and even, just giving the kids a sample taste of the Carmel topping & crumbles of the cake that stuck to the side of the pan...they were CRYING (literally) for more.

Consider this to be the IDEAL dessert for Thanksgiving dinner...or even just a hearty family gathering!  Everyone will love the sweetness and tastes of this season in this Carmel Apple Cake. Just be warned...this is part of the reason that us Americans go on "NEW YEARS DIETS" come the first of the year!

Many...Many...MANY Apologies!

I've been missing and I feel the need to apologize for my absence.  As you know, my sweet sister & nephew were visiting last week.  On Saturday, we picked up her husband too!  Today, they are heading home! 

Having them here has truly been a blessing!  I got to spend some quality time with my nephew (I think he likes his auntie) and my sister & I have been able to laugh, chat, bond and share.  Makes me heart happy.  I am not ready to say good-bye to them today (as they are headed back to Texas), but the time has come.
