Have A Blast With Your Kids On "NEW YEARS" EVE!

I'm going to give you a list of simple, CHEAP, but super fun idea for you & your kids can enjoy a long night of you celebrate a NEW Year's arrival!
First's a project you can do with your kids!  It's time consuming...but so much fun!  And does involve quite a mess in the end...but the smiles you'll see will be worth the vacuuming required to clean up after it.  MAKE CONFETTI FILLED BALLOONS!  These are so much fun (also for the 4th of July) and trust me...your kids will feel like they are experience the "TIME SQUARE" experience in the safety and comfort of your home!

A couple different options for noise makers (things my sister and I used on New Years to be a little noisy as we celebrated the holiday)...
(2) 2x4's.  If you slam those babies together...they make FIRECRACKER bangs.  It's awesome!  TRUST ME!  I know from experience!
Pots and Pans...and wooden spoons to bang with!  OH YEAH!  Your kids will love this!  Not only the noise, but the fact that you're letting them do it too!  ;)

Finally, one thing that always made it feel like I was grown up (grew up in a non-alcoholic house) and truly celebrating...
SPARKLING CIDER!  Yum!  It's delicious, and if you so decide, you can serve it in champagne or wine glasses to make your kids feel even more special!

If you take these few simple ideas and apply a few of your own...I can guarantee that your New Years Eve will be a night you & your kids will not soon forget...involving lots of giggles and smiles!

Why I Am So Glad We Don't Call It A "NEW YEAR'S PROMISE" And You Should Be Too!

EVERY YEAR at New Years...people make RESOLUTIONS for the coming year!  I'm guilty of doing it!  Most people are, right?  But how many of us really "KEEP" to our resolutions and follow through with them till the end of the year?

Here's what I have to say about that:
Now...wouldn't you agree with me...aren't you glad they are called RESOLUTIONS and not PROMISES?  I'd be in so much trouble with my husband and kids if they were...

So with that being said...what will you be resolving for in 2012?

Santa...We're All Ready Now! Christmas Eve Presents Are Opened And On!

This is the first year, of many more to come...I hope!
Today we started a new Christmas Tradition!

I bought the kids pajamas for Christmas Eve/Christmas Morning.  It's a tradition that I know a lot of families have, and since I love to take pictures of the kids on Christmas morning...I figured it was a good one for us to start too.  Plus...what child isn't excited about opening a present on Christmas Eve!  I mean...the wait for CHRISTMAS MORNING is agonizing, right?
So this morning, they got up asking to open their Christmas Eve gifts.  Of course, I didn't let them...because they needed to wait till the afternoon/evening.  By 4:00, it was all they could do to wait another I broke down and let them have their gifts.
They immediately changed clothes and we are now "TRACKING SANTA" via excitement of his arrival tonight.  It appears he's ahead of schedule, which means the kids will (on their own accord) head to bed a little earlier & more willing than normal!  This, of course, makes me smile too!

Merry Christmas Eve friends and family!
May GOD bless you richly this Christmas and in the New Year too!  So thankful for that little baby, sent so many years ago...and the change HE made on my life!
Feeling very blessed this Christmas!

1 Day Till Christmas - Listen To This Before Bedtime With Your Kids Tonight! It's Christmas EVE!

Start a holiday tradition and read this with your kids tonight:
then sing this:

And you'll be set to have some excited children as they head to sleep...and dream of the celebration to come in the morning! YAY!

3. Open before the holidays. Don’t wait until the night of your soiree to unveil that brand new French press. Play it safe and test out new coffee makers and brewing gadgets long before company comes.

4. Create delicious dessert dishes using coffee ingredients. Create chocolate and coffee-flavored cupcakes, a coffee crumb bunt cake or a batch of coffee brownies and perfectly pair with a cup of your favorite coffee.

5. Coffee to go. Stock up on holiday-themed to go cups with lids and send guests home with a fresh cup of Eight O’Clock Coffee for the road – a must for visitors with a long ride ahead.

6. Don’t forget the decaffeinated. Make sure you have options – be prepared for caffeine-conscious guests.

A New Cereal Your Whole Family Will Love? CHECK OUT THIS AWESOME #GIVEAWAY from #MyBlogSpark!

I grew up eating a bowl of cereal for breakfast every morning before school.  Though my kids aren't EVERY MORNING cereal eaters...they do love their occasional bowl of sweet goodness!  And yes, just like every kid...the sweeter the cereal, the better it tastes, as far as they are concerned.
So I was delighted to have the opportunity to try out (before it's out in stores) a new cereal!
Are you excited to hear about it too?
"Frosted Toast Crunch" will be hitting store shelves in early January and your family will have to pick up and try a box or two! The NEW "Frosted Toast Crunch", has the delicious taste of frosted vanilla*, which makes this cereal totally irresistible (the frosted vanilla coating is artificially flavored).  Just one bite of the new Frosted Toast Crunch will send you into breakfast bliss, with each crunch square baked with the delightful taste of frosted vanilla and dusted with a delicious dash of cinnamon.
As you can tell, not only is the cereal delicious looking...
But my daughter (who helped me with this review/feature) couldn't get enough of it!
She also loved the Spilt Milk Bowl and the Funny Tongue Spoon.
It made the breakfast experience all the more fun!
I am excited to offer (1) Lucky winner their chance to win the same fun filled gift pack that we received (sent to us free of charge for this review/feature on behalf of Frosted Toast Crunch by MyBlogSpark).  Check out how to enter to win!

2 Days Till Christmas - Is Santa Real? A Few FUN Ideas To Keep Them BELIEVING!

We have four amazing kids...all of which "STILL BELIEVE" in Santa Claus. In our religion, there is controvery as to whether or not we should even involved the Jolly Old St. Nick. In my opinion, it's a decision the couple should make on their own after a lot of prayer and consideration! From the very start of our family, Santa has been involved (in part) in our Christmas.
And the looks on our kids faces on Christmas morning have been worth it! A HUGE SIDE NOTE: Our kids also know that the reason we (our family) celebrates Christmas is not about Santa Claus at all, but about the birth of JESUS! That He was the first GIFT and because of that, we give gifts each at Christmas (LIKE A BIG BIRTHDAY PARTY) to celebrate our Savior's Birth.   In fact, we have a party, with pancakes and handles & sing "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" after the presents are opened!  I am pretty certain that despite the hype in the house about SANTA coming (cause they are always excited), in each one of their hearts, they know the true meaning of Christmas.

We also, have a great book to break the news to them when the time comes to explain who Santa really is called "KRISTIN AND THE SANTA SECRET".  Our oldest is ten and we have yet to have to read this to him...but we have it when the time comes!
Anyway, because we want this "parent magic" to last as long as extremely possible, we have a few things we do to keep the kids more and more intrigued. Every Christmas Eve we leave cookies & milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. After the kids are tucked into bed, I (having my arm twisted REAL HARD) eat the cookies...all but 1 and some crumbs. I then proceed to take all but 1 carrot that I CHEW UP a little (making it look like reindeer teeth and put back on the table. We also leave him a note, telling him what the cookies & milk are for and wishing him a FABULOUS Christmas Eve night!
Next, we proceed with my husband's workboots and some flour (no vaccums up easily)...make "Perfect" SANTA tracks through our house. When we lived in a house with a fireplace, the boot prints came from the fireplace to the tree...and gradually got lighter as he walked. Since we live in a house without a fireplace here, Santa comes out of the the flour boot print trail starts there and works it's way onto the hardwood floors and then over to the tree.
Seeing their faces, when they see this huge mess, will prove to you that they are even bigger believers! Finally, I came across a website where you can set up your digital camera (take a picture of the room that you want to "catch Santa" in and they will send you a digital copy of the picture with Santa in the room.

If they weren't believing any of the other things...this will definitely SECURE THE DEAL. Who could deny an actual picture of Santa in your "room" putting presents under the tree, in the stockings, etc. LOVE IT!

So there you go...Keep that Santa Magic alive as long as possible. It's the innocence of Christmas. And make sure (if your Christian) that you reinforce the real reason behind all the "GIFT GIVING" during Christmas as well! GOD sent HIS son as the ULTIMATE Gift for us! And as we celebrate Jesus's birthday...I pray that your family will have a blessed Christmas Day!

P.S. You can also, on Christmas EVE, track Santa's whereabouts by using this website: . They show videos, a map around the globe of where he's been already and even an area where they can play games in between their "tracking". SO FUN!

Have fun and enjoy the MAGIC & JOY of Christmas through your kids eyes!

3 Days Till Christmas - A Few Gift Ideas That Would Be TOTALLY The Wrong Idea!

I have to laugh!  Sometimes people don't think things through, when it comes to gift giving!  Perhaps it's because they are in a hurry or rush!  Maybe they are intentionally buying something to upset someone?
Regardless, here's a couple gift ideas that would be the WRONG idea if you're trying to make the right impression or buy a gift that they will actually use!

For a vegetarian or vegan friend or family member (for a nice dinner out):
For a person who is struggling with their weight (though you may have the best intentions by giving it):
For a person that does not believe in GOD (though again you may have the best intentions in mind):
For a person that doesn't drink alcohol:
For a person who doesn't follow sports (of any sort) AT ALL (a 1 yr subscription):
For a friend who has been trying for years to have a baby (only cause you hope they will get pregnant soon):'s the thought that counts (when it comes to gift giving), so make sure you put some thought into it.  Ask there any way this might come across offensive to "so and so"?  Make sure you know the person you are buying for and purchase a gift (or gift certificate) according to their "KNOWN" likes!

Otherwise, you might find yourself and them in a very uncomfortable moment as they take in and respond to your gift!  Guess we could write another post on that called, "10 ways to respond to the most awful gift you've ever received"...but that's for another time!

4 Days Till Christmas - Give Your House That "CHRISTMAS" Scent...Straight Out Of Your Spice Rack!

My mom had a trick she used around the holidays (and when we had our house on the market to sell).  It was a quick, simple, easy and delicious mix of spices...that made the house smell homey and "OH SO Holidayish"!
So what's in the pot?

Water...for starters!
Add a couple tablespoons of cinnamon or a couple cinnamon sticks!
A handful of cloves!
A couple tablespoons of nutmeg!
You can also add some orange and lemon peel if you want a scent too!

The basic idea is to bring it to a boil and then let it simmer on the stove top....

TRUST ME...your house will smell amazing and it will put you in the Christmas Spirit!

ANTS IN MY HOUSE? Thanks to Discovery Kids...We WELCOMED Them In!

Ants are a real problem in our house during the summer time!  I truly do not enjoy their invasion!  In fact, I rather dislike it!  My kids, on the other hand...think ants are funny!  How about you?
Do you want ANTS in your house?
Well, thanks to "The Balancing Act" Show and Discovery Kids, "ANTS" are now welcome in our house...but in a contained and self sustaining habitat!
We received the "Discovery Kids" Illuminated Gel Ant Habitat to do a review/feature of!  My oldest son was super excited about this!  What boy wouldn't be?
After taking everything out, reading the directions, and getting things set up and ready for the ANTS...we headed outside (armed with flashlights) to find some new occupants.  Certain we would find more than enough to fill our new habitat!
BUT UNFORTUNATELY, much to my dismay (and even after putting some honey out to try to lure some to our capture), we found NONE!  Not one single ant!  AMAZING...since our house is literally swarming with them during the warm summer months.  Guess they are all "in hiding" when it's COLD outside?
So, now we will wait...because this kit comes with a card you can mail in to get ants shipped (who would have thought I'd be paying to have ants sent to my house...when they are pests I want rid of during the summer), to inhabit our new gel illuminated home for them.
Until then, this habitat makes an excellent nightlight (not really...we aren't using it until the ants arrive)...but it is immediately ready for them when they get here.  My son can't wait!  Honestly, neither can I.  After reading about the experience...I think it will be interesting to watch them tunnel, see them interact with one another and in a way, it's almost be something relaxing & soothing to watch and to look at in the illuminated blue gel!
This kit is not only fun, but educational.  Plus...these are some of the lowest maintenance "pets" you can keep because their habitat is self sustaining.  You just have to open the top every once in awhile to replenish their oxygen supply.  Can't get much easier or simplier than that, right?

I was not paid to feature this post!  I was compensated only by the product sent for review/feature!
