REUNITED And It Feels So Good...

Not sure if any of you were wondering or not...but our dog has been living in TEMPORARY HOUSING too, since we've been in California.  She's been staying with a Labradoodle and her owners (so now she has an official dog buddy)...until we close on our house.
TODAY...we get to bring her home and not only introduce her to her new home (she gets to protect), but also to her FREEDOM with a fenced in backyard!  I am so, very, very excited for her!  The poor thing has always been leashed or tethered somewhere and now...she will finally be able to ROAM AROUND and explore!  Plus...I have a feeling we might have a swimmer on our hands!

NOW...our family is finally COMPLETE and all together again in California!

A Cheap, Yet Heartwarming Project...You And Your Kids Can Do Together!

Are you headed to the beach at any point this summer?  If might consider doing something that my kids and I decided to do, to use up the special shells we found on our walks on the beach.

Remember how the kids and I went "SHELL HUNTING" last week?  If you know me well, you know that I had to find some way to keep those shells...FOREVER!
So, we went to the DOLLAR TREE and found cute but simple $1.00 frames!
I bought a cheap glue gun and some glue sticks...and I let them get to work!  I always delight in watching my kids create things...especially things they will cherish!
Here's our finished project!  Some of our proud "FINDS" displayed beautifully and securely on a frame. get some pictures printed to put in the frames, so we can show them off in our NEW HOUSE!

This project cost under $10 for all four kids, offered us (at least) an hour of crafting entertainment, and helped us treasure the time we've gotten to spend in Carlsbad...before we move into our house in California.

The kids will never forget when they made these frames!
That makes my heart happy!

A Sand Dollar...What A Beautiful Thing!

You've probably seen them in souvenior shops...and maybe some of you have been lucky enough to find a whole one on one of your beach walks...but there's something unique and intriguing about a SAND DOLLAR!

I have heard that if you find a sanddollar, you found some loose change from Poseidon’s treasure vault or that you found some coins lost by mermaids or the people of Atlantis.

My kids have been curious about these beautiful creatures, so we actually found a video showing one move around on it's little tiny legs:
There is also a Sand Dollar Folklore:
There’s a lovely little legend

that I would like to tell,
of the birth and death of Jesus,
found in this lowly shell.
If you examine closely,
you’ll see that you find here,
four nail holes and a fifth one,
made by a Roman’s spear.
On one side the Easter lily,
its center is the that appeared unto the shepherds
and led them from afar.
The Christmas Poinsetta
etched on the other side,
reminds us of His birthday,
our happy Christmastide.
Now break the center open,
and here you will release,
the five white doves awaiting,
to spread Good Will and Peace.
This simple little symbol,
Christ left for you and me,
to help us spread His Gospel,
through all Eternity.
Inside the teeth were supposed to signify little white doves. The gray Sand Dollar represents LIFE…the white one the RESURRECTION.

Pretty cool, right?

Future LIFEGUARDS? Meet Our Little Rescuers...

Our kids are hilarious!  Yesterday...while they were swimming with their Dad in the pool, they spotted a cricket in the very deepest part, in the bottom of the 5 ft section of the pool.  Both of my older's were explaining to me how they were very close to touching it, but couldn't bring themselves to it.
So this afternoon, when I took them swimming...these little RESCUERS had a mission at heart.
MISSION: SAVE THE DEAD CRICKET! read that right...the poor little creature had obviously been dead for over 24 hours, but their little hearts couldn't bear the thought of it laying in the bottom of the pool any longer!  So they saved it!
So to speak...

Who knows...maybe we have some future lifeguards on our hands...but regardless, we have soft-hearted kids that were worried about one of GOD's creations!  It makes my heart melt and always provides constant entertainment benefits too!  That cricket will obviously never realize the bravery they put forth (it took them a lot of courage to finally pick it up and bring it to the surface)...but their mommy does, and so does GOD!  I swear...we have four of the most AMAZING KIDS!

From The Rising Of The Sun...To The Going Down Of The Same...

Last night, I had the chance to sit on the beach, all alone...and watch the sun disappear into the ocean!
What a beautiful, breathtaking, spectacular, & truly majestic sight to see!
Even the people walking along, CLAPPED AND CHEERED, as the sun finally disappeared from sight!
It made me think of this verse...and sing it in my head over and over again:

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD's name is to be praised.
Psalm 113:3

Summer Sunburns...Here's Some Tips To Help!

Yesterday, our poor little guy (the youngest) managed to walk away from our pool time with a sunburn. I feel horrible for my kids when this happens!!  I slathered him up with sunscreen...just like the other's, but I think he's fairer skinned and today, he's pretty pink and crispy!

It hurts and MOMMY wants to make it "ALL BETTER" for him...

So here are some great resources for both me & you to use...when you're looking for help with a sunburn on yourself or your little ones:

Coconut oil, aloe vera and honey...

Believe it or not...they say that "BLACK TEA" can help heal and soothe your sunburned skin!  Seems simple enough!

Finally...this site has several different REMEDIES to offer!!

Happy 2nd Birthday...TO MY NEPHEW!

My nephew Bresden (my little sister's little guy) is turning 2 TODAY!

This little guy is truly a miracle and I am blessed to be his very PROUD Auntie!
I wish we could be there to spend the day with you...hug & kiss you...and watch you run around, sing and play!  But just know that your Auntie, Uncle and cousins love you very, very much!
Sending lots of love from Sunny California!

How To Handle A Bee Sting...CALMLY!

You may think this is a simple topic...but...this mommy hasn't had to deal with this type of INJURY until yesterday!  We were swimming in my old roommates pool and our oldest son was playing with a raft.  At one point, he jumped up, grabbed the raft and somehow managed to get a bee stinger right in his finger.  Immediately, he was not only hurt and alarmed...but so was his mommy & daddy.

(Having a mom who has bee allergies, I have never been stung...but have always been terrified that I might be allergic too...and have been concerned my kids might as well).

Thankfully, the only symptom (besides pain) was major swelling in his finger.  I pulled the stinger out (because at first, we weren't sure if it was a splinter or bee stinger)...which I learned since that you are suppose to "SCRAPE the stinger out", instead of squeeze and pull.  But like I said...this was my first experience in dealing with this.

We dosed him with some Benedryl and Motrin (for pain relief), and we kept an ice pack on his finger.  It felt better for most of the evening...but woke him up early this morning, again panicked & painful!  He's fine now (with more motrin and ice therapy)...and since I was up, I did some research on how to CORRECTLY deal with a bee sting.

I thought this might help other parents who may or may not have had to handle this click on the image below to check out some great home remedies for bee stings:

I'll Admit It...I'm A BIG WIMP!

This morning, I told our oldest son & daughter that we could go use their boogie boards (just the three of us).  Since daddy was home to hang out with the two youngers...we were excited to hit the waves!
But man...I surely forgot (or didn't want to accept the fact) that the water here, in this ocean is COLD!  Brrr...MOMMY needs to do a review of a wetsuit!  Hee Hee!
I got in, caught a couple waves and then, spent the rest of the time doing this (my husband and the two youngers walked down to the beach to make sure we were ok from afar, and he snapped this picture of my daughter and I sitting out in the sun).  Our oldest daughter doesn't tolerate COLD WATER well at all, and the last thing I want is for her to catch we enjoyed the warm sun and sand, while we watched BIG BROTHER do his thing!
He was so happy and in his element!  That makes my heart happy!
Our oldest son not only managed to catch some awesome waves...but he also met a couple new buddies (we loaned them our two boards), who caught some waves with him!

What a great morning!

This sounds like we'll tackle the Del Mar Fair!!  WOOHOO!

Today...The Beach Reigned SUPREME!!

After yesterday's purchases (of boogie boards), I am surprised we were able to get the kids to sleep last night!  Our oldest son was SUPER DUPER excited to head out to the beach this morning for some wave riding & cold water fun!
So that's exactly what we did!
He headed for the waves...
She played in the sand...
She LITERALLY danced all over the beach...*twirl* *spin*
And he (who chose to wear his flotation outfit meant for the pool) buried himself in the sand.
You should have seen his head when we left the beach (he was covered in sand)!
Even Mommy got to enjoy a few wave splashes, watching her kids giggle & smile, watching her oldest son catch some waves like a pro (okay...he felt like a pro, even though he may have not really looked like one) and reap the benefits of having an early morning beach trip!

WE LITERALLY had the beach all to ourselves...and it didn't put the kids innocent skin at risk of the harmful afternoon rays!

Yesterday the pool...but today...the BEACH REIGNED SUPREME! can't beat FREE summertime entertainment!  LOVE IT!

To The Pool Or To The Beach? That Is The Question...

Our cars arrived today in once piece!  We were happy to see Ol' Bessie (though she had two flat tires on the back...INTENTIONALLY, by the transport people...who then filled them back up before returning her to us) and Caddie...made it safe and sound!
Such a relief to have transportation again!
The kids and I can run errands, explore and not be confined to things only within walking distance!
Our first buy sweatshirts (for our evening walks in the brisk ocean air), to buy boogie boards (for some fun in the ocean) and to buy snorkels/masks (for pool time fun). decide...after this little guy's nap...

What would you choose?

YOU! Never Be Anyone Else!

The are times in our lives when we are FEELING attacked or are just not getting the approval that we hope for!  We all have those times!  Admit it!  Maybe it's from family!  Maybe it's from friends!  Maybe it's from someone you really don't even know?  Yes...even people we don't know attack us!

BE CONFIDENT in yourself!
This is your LIFE!
Don't let them steal even a second of your JOY & SUNSHINE!
Proverbs 15:13 - "A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit."

Psalm 97:11-12 - "Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart. Rejoice in the LORD, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name."

Proverbs 17:22 - "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

John 16:22 - "So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy."

Shell Hunting We Will Go...

The kids were not CERTAIN they wanted to go to the beach today!  SERIOUSLY?  We will never live "THIS CLOSE" to the beach and mommy wants to take as much advantage of it as we can.
So...I came up with an idea to make it fun for everyone!

WE WENT "SHELL HUNTING"!  The mission?  The person who found the most "UNBROKEN" shells would receive a prize!  The four dollars I had in my wallet!  ;)  The only stipulation was, if they got WET, they were disqualified (doing laundry is already adding up quickly)!  That immediately got them stoked and you could see determination all over their faces!
They had a mission and a plastic bag in their hands!
And as soon as their feet hit the beach...they were hunting!  It is such a beautiful day too!  What a blessing!
Mommy got a few moments to soak up the sun, because she wasn't worried about the kids least, until the first child (the oldest) got wet.  Then it was all over!  The kids couldn't help themselves...and I can't blame them, we are at THE BEACH!
Then the hunting was over...and they played water tag...
And chased the seagulls & found seaweed...OH, the life of my kids right now!  It's rough!  NOT!  Talk about being spoiled with GOD's beautiful gifts!  The Sea, The Sand, The Ocean, and all of it's BEAUTY!
Our winner...was our oldest daughter...who managed to find 35 shells that were not chipped or broken.  They were all little, but still beautiful and priceless to her!  Of course, the money was exciting too.  She decided to split it with the oldest...because she felt bad he got disqualified so early in the HUNT!  Too funny!

Anyway...just had to share!  AS you can tell, we are thoroughly enjoying our time here already!
