Got BOYS?? They Will Love "HESS MINI TOY TRUCKS"!

My boys love playing with little cars & trucks.  Those tiny little vehicles that suddenly come to life with the noises from their throat and mouth, as they zoom up and down my floor, over the couch, on the table, etc.  BOYS WILL BE BOYS!  And my boys love their toys!
I was delighted to be introduced to a new toy line (it's really not new...they have been around since 1964) that has my boys all excited about driving AGAIN!
Hess Toy Trucks offers an exclusive "MINI" toy (which they have been making for the past 15 years), that this year became available on May 25th!  We received the Hess Mini Toy Truck and Airplane!  It is a smaller version of their Holiday Toy Trucks.
Not only is it adorable (that's a mommy's opinion),
but it also has working lights and a flatbed that doubles as a landing pad.  The plane has a working rotor and is marked with 2012 on the cockpit.
The best part about it...it's only $6.99 plus tax and comes with an included Energizer battery.
My little guy loves his new Hess Mini Toy Truck and Airplane!
I love that it's a toy that he will play with for years to come!  It's a DOUBLE WIN for us both!

Old "Wives Tales" For HomeMakers!

You may have heard some of these before...and maybe some of them will be new, but I can bet you $$ that they will make you giggle, shake your head and laugh a little!

Especially if you're a HOMEMAKER!

I always find it interesting when people are truly SUPERSTITIOUS and believe these types of things!
Are you glad I shared this with you?
Were you surprised by any of them?

This one made me go, "Awww...": If a new bride should quietly take her mother’s dishcloth, she will never be homesick.

Brillo's New "Estracell No Scratch Scrub Sponge" Makes Summer Cleaning A Cinch!

Cleaning around your house may or may not become a heavier duty when your kids are home from school for the summer.  In our house, it becomes a bit of a bigger task, because they are dirtying dishes all day long!  The sink full of dirty plates, with crusty, baked on (baked on cheese or whatever else).  YUCK!
Especially in a house, like ours, where our dishwasher doesn't do a good job cleaning dishes unless they are almost already CLEAN before I load them...I need a scrubbing partner that can not only handle the pressure, but also be my greatest ally!

That's where these new HANDY DANDIES come in...
I LOVE THE NEW Brillo® Estracell®Sponges with Wedge Edge because it makes cleaning the dishes a much simpler and easier job for mommy!
This sponge is designed to not only handle my heavy workload, but has a scratch free scrub material that works great for removing tough build up.  LOVE IT!  The edges have an angle, making it easier to get into those nooks and crannies that are sometimes impossible to get clean!
They come in a 3 pack, which is perfect...because you'll always have on under the counter when it's time for a new one!

CLICK HERE to learn more about Brillo® Estracell®Sponges with Wedge Edge and pick some up on your next trip to the store!

Why Do We Celebrate Memorial Day?

Today is:
Perhaps you don't realize why we celebrate this holiday?
Maybe you can enlighten your kids a little better with some history on why today is a National Holiday:

Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May.[1] Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the fallen Union soldiers of the Civil War. (Southern ladies organizations and southern schoolchildren had decorated Confederate graves in Richmond and other cities during the Civil War, but each region had its own date. Most dates were in May.) By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.[2] As a marker it typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.

A special thank you to each and every one of you who have served in the MILITARY and especially those who have given their lives to keep our country Free!

THANK YOU!

I Am A Child Of GOD...He Calls Me Friend!

I thought this went well with my other post!!
Be encouraged today!!
GOD HAS BIG PLANS FOR YOU!

YOU MATTER TO ME!!

WE may not know each other personally!  Maybe we have never even met before...but I want you to know something!  YOU MATTER TO ME!  I care about you!  You, yes you...the one looking around them to see who I am talking about...YOU!

Why?  Why would someone who hasn't even met you before feel the need to tell you that you MATTER to them?  That you are IMPORTANT?  Honestly, because I don't feel like enough people hear this simple fact often enough!  I don't think that people really believe they are IMPORTANT!  Even I have days, when I wonder...who really cares?

But instead of sitting in a corner, feeling sorry for myself (or yourself), you can definitely be confident in knowing that I am not the only one that cares about you!  There is a person much bigger, much more loving, much more powerful, much more full of compassion...than me...that cares about you!

His name is JESUS!

Obviously, you guys know that I am not afraid to share...and if you're offended...go ahead and stop reading!  But I really feel led to encourage my readers right now about this!  Those of you who need a word of encouragement...who need a pat on the back...who need a hug (cause you haven't had one in a really long time)...who need to know they are worth something to someone...KEEP READING!!

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
John 1:1

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
John 15:15

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13

YOU MATTER TO ME...
because if you are "in Christ", we are "FAMILY"...and FAMILY matters SO MUCH to me!

And even if you aren't there yet...maybe GOD is still working on your heart...know that you are more loved and cared about than you could ever imagine!

On A Whim...We're Off To OHIO, To See My Oldest Nephew Graduate!

I can't believe it...my oldest nephew TJ is graduating from high school today!

So...the kids & I are super excited to head out, on a whim for the weekend, to surprise him & watch him accept his hard earned diploma, as he graduates from high school!  We also get to celebrate with him on Saturday night at his party!  HOW FUN!
Please pray for us to have traveling mercies on our trip!  I always get a little nervous driving such a long distance (to OHIO) with my four little heartbeats, but I know that GOD will bless our time with family, so it's worth it!

CONGRATS TJ!  We are proud of you!

I'll be back...on MONDAY!

FABULOUS FASHIONABLE FRIDAY - Where And When Would You Wear This? I Need Your Help!

My beautiful, feisty, outgoing 6 year old loves FASHION!  She's the girl that, when asked to go upstairs and get her PJ's on, comes down in a pettiskirt and sparkly top!
(she posed herself this way naturally...no assistance required)
Because she's such a little fashionista..she loves to pick out clothes for her mommy for my birthday, Christmas, etc.

I love that my kids "PICK OUT" their choice of items...but it gets hard when they pick out something they like, that I don't!
I received a shirt (see above) that I have yet to wear and she just questioned me about it yesterday!  She wanted me to try it on!  She wanted to see me dance around in it!  She wants to see me wear it out of the house!  It's not my style, nor something I would ever have chosen myself.  It doesn't look horrible on, but it's a bit RACIER than tops I would typically choose...because it shows a lot more skin than something I would typically wear anywhere!

So my questions for you guys are...
Where & When would you wear this?
Would you wear this?
Am I just being silly?

I don't want to hurt my sweetie's feelings...but I also don't want to wear something that is INAPPROPRIATE for a mommy of four to be wearing.  I thought maybe this could be a "LADIES NIGHT OUT" blouse, but how often do those happen and I am not sure I would feel comfortable wearing it out then either.

PLEASE...share your opinions with me!  I need your moral support!

Tan Or Draw Your Own "TATTOO" For The Summer! Your Kids Will Love This!

When my sister and I were little girls, we spent a lot time in our backyard...soaking up the sun and swimming in our pool.  Yes...we were spoiled to have a pool, but I'll admit that we took full advantage of it too...since it was over 100 degrees most days in the summer in our hometown.
Having a pool was a luxury in that heat...for sure!
Source: google.co.uk via Fen on Pinterest

One of the fun things we used to do, when we were "SUNBATHING", was to find a cute shaped sticker or a marker to draw a shape to put on our tummy, biceps or legs, so that as we tanned...so it would leave the outline after the sticker was removed. It was a fun way to have a temporary shape on our body, without leaving a lasting impression or much harm (though I know that the sun exposure probably wasn't the best for us).

It's funny to me, because my girl's and I were outside soaking up some sun this last weekend (with sunscreen carefully applied) and I told them about doing this.  My oldest daughter went in the house, came out with a pen and I drew a cute little heart on her belly.  WE obviously didn't get enough sun to really leave an outline, but I know this won't be the last time we do it either!

I see lots of fun times ahead...with my girls, with temporary TAN shaped outlines and reminiscent memories from my childhood all intertwined!

Do Your Kids Like Chocolate Milk? THEY Are Going To Love "CRAVE"!

My kids are what I would classify as "Chocolate Milk Connoisseurs"!  They are picky about the brand of syrup I use to make it!  They are picky about how I mix it up!  They are down right picky about CHOCOLATE MILK!

So I was a little concerned about how my kids were going to respond to trying out a new "KIND" of Chocolate Milk.  Something cutting edge and different than they have ever tried!
Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised with the reactions!  Not only were they very excited and anxious about trying it (after it was already chilled of course)...
But they loved it!  Not only my oldest son...but they each got a straw and taste tested both the Chocolate and the Strawberry Chocolate flavors.  THEY LOVED THEM BOTH!
In fact, so much so...that after my oldest son sucked his bottle dry...he told me, "Mommy...we have definitely got to buy more of this stuff!  It's Awesome!"  I guess I will be buying more?  The product sold itself to my kids!

So what makes "CRAVE" different than other types of pre-packaged chocolate milks?

Much To My Kid's Dismay...

Their mommy didn't go to college!

Lots of people might actually be embarrassed to admit that simple fact, but this MOMMY is proud of herself, regardless!  It seems that in today's society, we assume that you either GO TO COLLEGE or you don't amount to much!  I think that's sad!

Instead of taking her little HONOR ROLL self (I was a really good student in high school) to a Jr. College in her hometown and then onward to a university, she went to WORK!!  In fact, she went to work her entire SENIOR year of high school FULL TIME.  I worked 3-11:30 every night at the hospital, as a file clerk in the x-ray department.  It's funny, because the kids and I were looking through my Senior Yearbook last night and I wasn't in any extra curricular activities, because instead, I was working to pay for my car, my insurance & my gas. I did miss out on a lot of fun my Senior Year, but I still have amazing memories too, so I think the trade off was worth it!  I learned some great "WORK ETHIC" that year!

After high school, I went to work at a Cancer Center as the front desk receptionist.  I want to believe, that through that job, I got to make an impact on each and every person who walked in or out of that place.  It was probably the most EMOTIONALLY difficult job I have ever had (aside from simply being a parent)!  I met people who won the struggle with cancer!  I met people who lost the struggle too!  I met spouses who were trying to hold it together for their "other half" and other's who simply couldn't!  TALK ABOUT learning a lot about life in a little amount of time.

After that job, I worked as an ADMIN to a PR department for one of the largest health insurance companies in  Southern California.  This was not only a lot more relaxed job, but I loved the girls I worked with.  We had FUN at our jobs!  It was a delight to go to work with them everyday!  There were three of us in the department and we became a little family.  I took a short stay in the Pharmacy Department as an admin...for a little more money for about 6 months and then moved to SAN DIEGO to feel my wild oats!

In San Diego, I found myself attempting to find temporary work, until I could land a full time job.  Thankfully, I had a little bit of BUILT UP savings to live off of, until I did.  My parents did not help support me financially AT ALL!  Lucky for me, the staffing service I went to, loved me for more than just temporary work! They hired me to work FOR THEM on staff.  At the end of my employment with them, I was basically running their Sorrento Valley Staffing Office by myself.  Finding people jobs they loved, helping companies find the right employees and making some great bonuses really WORKED FOR ME!

After finding out I was pregnant, I relocated back to my hometown, to a staffing office there...until I had my first baby.  After my maternity leave, I ended up quitting that job, to protect myself and my baby from harm (I was literally asked to put my safety at risk to keep that job) and started working as a receptionist/admin for a TRASH SERVICE.  Yes...I am serious!  I had a blast working there until my fiance came home from the war, we got married and I became an official STAY AT HOME MOMMY!

Now...phew, I obviously had lots of LIFE EXPERIENCE through all my work experience.  And I'll admit that there is a small part of me that wishes (and sometimes envies others who had the chance) I  had the chance to be a carefree college student!  Living in a dorm room, going to some fun college activities, etc.  But that was just not "in the cards" for my life!  God simply had other plans for me!

Do I think my kids will be embarrassed when they are older, about the fact that their mommy doesn't have a formal college education?  NOT AT ALL!  At least I hope not!  I have accomplished a lot in my lifetime so far, and though I am not a doctor or lawyer...I feel that I am making a far greater impact by JUST BEING MOMMY!

So there you go...you're reading a blog of a high school graduate mommy, who has worked her behind off since her SENIOR year in high school, so she could become a self sufficient and independent woman.  I am grateful for the work experience I have had and think that it helps me everyday in not only my MOMMY career, but also in my blogging world too!

HELP ME...My Hair Keeps Falling Out!

After I gave birth to all my babies, I always found that my pregnancy hair would start to shed almost immediately...but would slow down and stop (except for the normal shedding) after a few months!

But after my last little guy was born...the shedding has yet to STOP!
He is almost FOUR!
Every time I wash my hair...it comes out by the handfuls...

or drainfuls... (gross illustration, but it's a true example...that doesn't include what falls out when I comb it out)!

And I am at a loss of what to do!  I take vitamins (and lots of them) and just started taking Biotin to see if that would help my hair stay put, but I haven't seen much change!  I am desperate!  I used to have lush, full, thick hair (like my girls have) and now it's thinned out so much, I just can't stand it!  I want to keep my hair longer, but it's so thin...it starts looking bad after it grows past a certain length...

HELP ME!  Does anyone have any advice?  Am I missing something in my diet?  Why does my hair continue to fall out by the handfuls?  If there is something I can do to stop it...
I WANT IT TO STOP...NOW!

Please feel free to comment below if you have anything that could help me save my hair!

Morning Sickness And PUKING - Where's The Worst Or Most EMBARRASSING Place You've Ever LOST IT?

When I was pregnant with all four of my babies...I always had MORNING SICKNESS!  With the boys, it was typically "IN THE MORNING" and the girls it was "ALL DAY LONG".

Did you experience any morning sickness with your pregnancies?

The worst thing about it was my heightened senses (especially my ability to smell things clearer and more defined than ever before), always made me gag!  I am sensitive to gagging anyway, but being pregnant made it even worse!  Once I start gagging...I end up throwing up!

One night, when my parents were visiting us in Columbus, OHIO (I was pregnant with our oldest daughter), we had dinner at Uno's Pizzeria.  I did fine all during the meal, but as soon as we walked outside...the smells from the complex (which included several other restaurants) grabbed me and I LOST IT!  LITERALLY...I lost it...my whole dinner in the flower bed, right outside the restaurant windows.  I am sure that I probably made some patrons in the restaurant sick too!  I am sure this was not the DINNER entertainment anyone was hoping to see!

I was so embarrassed!!  MORTIFIED!!

My parents, to this day, still laugh and bring it up from time to time, when we are out to dinner!  Of course, my kids think it's UBER funny too!  I guess, in a way, it's quite comical...NOW!

So I am curious...do you have a funny "MORNING SICKNESS" story to share with us?
A time when you "LOST IT" in an unusual or embarrassing place?

Fun In The Sun - With Homemade Water Play Ideas!

This weekend, it appears the weather in Connecticut is going to be pleasant, sunny and fairly warm...which means that the kids & I are going to be spending a lot of time soaking up the sunshine!  Now, I am not talking about 90's...but more mid to upper 70's.  So going swimming is out of the question, because there is no way a pool would be warm enough yet!  But that doesn't mean we can do something fun with water anyway!!

So, I used Pinterest again to resource some ideas for lots of outdoor fun, with simple things you can create at home with a few things you might have already laying around:

A homemade sprinkler made out of a used 2 liter bottle!  With a few pokes and the twist of a hose (you might need to buy a special connector), and the help of a tree...you've got hours of fun entertainment for little $$ out of pocket!

These sponge balls are easy to make and last a lot longer than "water balloons".  You dip, soak, throw and play!  Your kids will love these!  Sponges are cheap and last...so you can use these for several family moments!

Source: tinkerlab.com via April on Pinterest

Got a "little" one?  Fill a small bowl with water and give that toddler a couple measuring cups or a ball to play with in the water.  They will have so much fun dipping and spilling and splashing!

Source: designmom.com via Julia on Pinterest

Finally, this is one of the coolest "water play" Pinterest Pins.  My kids would love this!  Obviously, this would take a lot more work to put together, but what kid wouldn't love their own "DRIVE THRU CAR WASH" with built in sponges and all?  LOVE THIS!

So get outside this weekend!  Let the kids play in the water!  You don't have to spend a lot...but the time spent outside making memories will be worth more than money could ever buy!

I Attended A Wedding Today...of "Q" and "U"

And this was the beautiful bridesmaid...(and yes, I am a little partial):
At the wedding of "Q" and "U" for our daughter's kindergarten class.  It's a fun way for the teacher to theatrically explain that Q and U are never apart in spelling!
And It's SO STINKIN' CUTE!!
They sang a couple songs...
And had a little reception (she was such a good big sister to her little bro)..
This is the second wedding we attended...and it was just as cute the second time around!
Now "Q" and "U" have been married again in 2012!
