Head lice! Just the mention of those two little words together honestly makes me cringe, makes my head itch and makes me relive a school year, a few years back...when we were invaded with these awful little pests!
I had nightmares! They were horrible to get rid of and then I was totally paranoid (still am) that we would get them again!
So what's a mommy to do...so she can sleep at night and not make her kids to nervous about possibly "hosting" one of these nasty bugs during the school year? She is PROACTIVE! She keeps products in the house to fight and DEFEND AGAINST...so it doesn't become a huge, ongoing issue throughout the school year!
I am delighted to have this product to use to start out the school year this year! And trust me...I'll be buying more, just for my personal peace of mind that we are DEFENDED against a head lice attack that might break out in the schools!
I NEVER want to go through, what we went through, EVER AGAIN! Trust me...neither do you! So stock up and be proactive!! You'll thank me in the end!

Maybe it's because it's Monday? Maybe it's because it's almost a full moon? Maybe it's just because life sometimes happens like this...
But today was just ONE OF THOSE DAYS!!
See, we were very anxiously awaiting our new puppy to be delivered today. I vacuumed through the house, got the extra dog crate ready & a blanket inside, got the toys set out, his food & water bowl ready and anticipated our "PUPPY INSPECTION"...in hopes that they would leave the puppy with us.
Sure enough...she calls as I am trying to get the little guy down for his nap. She asks if she can bring "Muttley" (what they called him) over now. Of course, how could I say no? The kids would be so excited! So much so, that the little guy decides he can't nap today! GREAT!! ;) Already off to a fantastic start!
She comes to deliver our new family member and then proceeds to drag her feet about leaving (I think he was one of her favorites from the rescued litter) and finally says her final nose licking goodbye to our new "TROOPER HUTSON". He's adorable, right?
I decide that the best bet will be to put the puppy outside (until it goes pee...so I have a starting off point for potty training) and put our older dog JADE in the house until he does. It seemed to be working out great...until I realize that because Jade was jumping at the slider, she had knocked the lock down...LOCKING US (all four kids, me and the new puppy) out of the house. If I didn't keep the house sealed up "TIGHTER THAN A JAIL", we probably would have been able to find another way in...but unfortunately, we had no phone, no keys and no way of getting back inside...until my husband could get home from work.
We headed next door to the neighbors house (who I had yet to meet the actual adults of the household), to ask if we could use the phone. Great...they must think I'm QUITE the "MOTHER OF THE YEAR", with our first impression, right? Meanwhile, the kids think it's great and play with the puppy and their kids as we wait for my husband to arrive home to let us back in.
Meanwhile, our oldest son (for some strange and unknown reason), decides to open the one door of our "Ol' Bessie" mini van that is broke (and therefore does not lock)...and proceeds to set off the ALARM. I thought...oh great...but it should stop in a few minutes, right? NOPE!! It just kept going...and after ten minutes, I finally got the guts up to ask if the husband next door could disconnect a battery cable for me...so we could stop the horrible alarm and the now ringing in our ears.
Finally, my husband gets home and we are able to get into the house, I take the kids & the neighbor kids swimming...while the puppy takes his first nap in our home...and the rest of the afternoon & evening was much calmer.
BUT PHEW...what a day! A napless, new puppy, locked out of the house, car alarming sort of day! Glad to be heading to bed shortly to start ANEW tomorrow morning!
That day that some mom's start counting down for...the moment SUMMER BREAK begins!
Yes, I am talking about the day your kids get dropped off at school, ride the bus or start their 2012-2013 school year! WOOHOO!!
Mine start in the middle of August...and I'll be honest, I am a little jazzed about that! It will just be me and my little shopping buddy (our almost 4 year old) at home all day long! We will be doing "at home" preschool here...but it will be an awfully quiet house in comparison!
So, I thought that I would do some posts...coming this week...for "BACK TO SCHOOL"!
Make sure to check in everyday for products, ideas, etc. for your family!
I was not paid to post this feature! I was not compensated in any way by posting about this idea!
Four years ago, when we left California...to move to Connecticut, we had to give away our son's birthday present "RICO". I promised to find him a good home (mission accomplished...he's super spoiled and well loved by his new family) and that when we had a fenced in backyard and owned our own house again...we would get him another puppy he could call HIS OWN.
Today we went to meet an adorable bundle of energy and sweetness!
Our son wants to name him ROGER...though I am earnestly trying to suggest other names.
However, that's probably what his name will be.
He's a German Shepherd mix and we are adopting him through a place that saves puppies from shelters that put dogs down.
Who could put such a sweet puppy down??
I was super duper pleased with how well our dog Jade took to him. They were nose to nose and she didn't bark at him once. That's a rarity with her. SERIOUSLY! She's really vocal! Pretty sure that means she sort of liked him too! She better...he's going to be her little brother! They are going to be the best of friends! I can tell already!
So happy to be providing him with a happy, loving & safe home!
So be on the lookout for more SUPER CUTE puppy posts coming...
He will be joining our family early next week and we can't wait to call him our own!
Our youngest daughter has a passion for horses! Always has, always will...I think! Pretty sure that it's helped to have a Grandma and Aunt who have a love of horses (and own their own) too. That's something that we've all looked forward to, about our visits to Grandma's house.
So today, she got her first RIDING LESSON!
(Learning to lead the horse all by herself!)
I honestly have a feeling this will be one of many! From the sound of it...once people get the itch for it...it's a life long LOVE!!
(In the saddle...what a big girl! So proud of her!)
So proud of her! She had a few jitters this morning before leaving...and she wanted only her DADDY to take her (it's rare when we get one on one time with the kids)...so I am anxious for her to get home, so I can hug her and hear all about it. Thankful her daddy snapped a few pictures, so I could be excited...from home...for her!
This company seems to think so...or hope so at least! Plus, you can earn a little extra money in the process too! Plus, using this company could actually save the DOG OWNER some money (dog boarding is so expensive) in letting an individual take care of your animal instead of taking them to an actual BOARDING place or Kennel.
So, what's the deal??
DogVacay that will literally pay you to take in a dog for the weekend. Research shows that dog owners are significantly more active than those who don’t have dogs: they spend at least 30 more minutes exercising per week and scientists have found dogs to be superior walking partners to humans as they can’t complain or talk you out of exercising.
But what if you can't afford a full-time pet or don’t have the time for one? Better than going to the gym, you can take your weekend puppy on walks, hikes, jogs, and maybe even mingle at the dog park. If you already have a dog, it's a fun way to socialize him and make a few extra dollars on the side.
The site is simple: you post a photo of yourself, your place, your nightly rate, and a few sentences about why you're a great candidate to watch dogs in your neighborhood. Then, dog owners nearby who need a home for their pup while they're out of town can search for free through all the nearby hosts and find the perfect match for their dog. It's cheaper than the kennel, and dog owners feel good knowing their pet is in a real, loving home. The focus of DogVacay is on dog boarding, but people can also sign up to be dog walkers exclusively.
DogVacay was started less than a year ago by an adorable young couple who took a big hit during the recession, and then boarded over 100 dogs in their home as a way to help pay for their wedding. Aaron and Karine are expecting their first child in August - and Karine plans to get the most out of her dogs Rocky and Rambo to take off the baby weight!
Here is a $10 coupon code off their first boarding, feel free to add it to the post! The code is: SUMMERVACAY

I don't get a lot of them as an adult, but when I was a little girl, I remember getting recurring UTI's. OUCHIE! I also remember my mom making me drink lots of cranberry juice...in order to keep my system working correctly! Seriously...UTI's HURT BAD!!
I was super excited to learn about Cystex and to now have some on hand, should I have a flair up.
In fact, I received an awesome "GIFT PACK" that included:
and an emergency PMS kit (which is super cute & perfect to have if you're ever "IN A PINCH").
A few things I really like about Cystex...it not only provides pain relief (which heaven knows...if you have a UTI...this is crucial), but also offers antibacterial protection! It is the only brand that helps inhibit the progression of an infection until you see the doctor...so things don't get worse!
I also remember, as a little girl...that drinking lots of water is SUPER important too. So if you're a person with recurring UTI's, take that to heart as well!
Being a healthy family is important to us! I hope & believe it should be a priority for most American families as well! Making sure that our kids are getting the vitamins & minerals their growing bodies need to stay healthy is "TOP" on our list of high importance!
But some kids & even parents don't like taking vitamins!
However, not many kids I know...will turn down a sweet adorable gummy bear. If they do, they are quite the exception!
The kids were super excited when this gift basket arrived...since we were needing to replenish their vitamin supply!
Mama was just about to head to Target to stock up!
I have always been a fan of GUMMY vitamins. These adorably shaped "Lil Critters" vitamins not only make my kids smile, but satisfy their sweet tooth and provide their growing bodies with "ALL THE GOODS" too! AWESOME! I never have to fight my kids to take these. They taste delicious...
And yes...they (Vitafusion) have amazing adult gummies too! I am in LOVE with their Calcium for adults. I love the texture (they are meaty) and the taste (like a creamsicle). THEY are delicious and also providing my body with plenty of extra calcium that I'm probably not getting in my diet.
Especially since I don't like drinking milk.
My only warning about these vitamins...is to make sure you brush your kids teeth and your teeth own too, after taking them...because the reason they taste so good, also can cause QUITE the cavities in your mouth. Our dentist warned that if we decide to give GUMMY vitamins...to just make sure to brush well after they take them!
There couldn't be a more fitting time for me to receive this book in the mail:
My Grandmother (my mom's mom) just passed away this last Thursday night...and as you're reading this, I am getting ready to attend her funeral in Arizona. I have been dealing with a little bit of sadness, about not getting to tell her goodbye.
Now, I'll admit that I don't believe all that is in this book, religiously speaking, but it's a heartwarming book filled with stories that will offer you encouragement, help renew your faith in the LOVE you shared with loved ones who have left this world, etc. It shares stories about miracles (which I definitely do believe in), answered prayers (AMEN TO THAT) and more...

My Mom had a secret PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE recipe that she always used when my sister and I were growing up to give us a quick & easy sweet treat! They are even better when you add a cup of chocolate chips to the mix too!
But really, they have the shortest and easiest ingredient list ever...are you ready for this?
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup chocolate chips
That's it...believe it or not!
Mix it all together well, ball up and then flatten with a fork and bake at 350 degrees until set in the middle.
I am a big fan of "STYLING" hair in new and cute ways. Having a mom that always did my sister & my hair cute, when we were little...I not only make a huge effort (personally) to have my hair fixed cutely before I leave the house...but especially with my girls!
And this desire intensifies even more so over the school year!
Since PINTEREST is such an amazing place to "COLLECT IDEAS", I thought I'd share some great ones I found to either try, or have tried!
