A National Geographic @PetSmart Summer - PART 1 - The Set Up

This summer...the kids are learning to take responsibility for their "pets".  One of our favorite PET Stores is PETSMART (as you know if you've read this blog long).  They always have the best pets, the best pet products and it's always an adventure to shop in their stores.  In fact, we've had "OUTINGS" just to browse their pet department and observe what all they "have in stock".

All products for this review/feature were sent free of charge by the company being featured!  I was not offered any monetary compensation by posting my honest feelings about all the products included!  The $25 Gift Card is to be used to purchase the fish and other needs for our new aquarium.
Did you know that PetSmart carries a National Geographic line?  When I think of National Geographic's...I think of those magazines that used to get delivered to my dad monthly when I was a kid.  They were all about animals, they were about different cultures, they were also educational and gave him hours worth of reading.  He loved his National Geographic magazines!
So I was super excited and delighted that they wanted to do a review/feature of some of their Pet Products now being sold in PetSmart stores!

In fact, we were offered an National Geographic™ Aqua Oasis Starter Kit
Our deliveries came in pieces...but we were delighted when the final thing we needed...the aquarium...arrived today!
The kids were SOOOOO excited!
We unpacked the aquarium, installed the filter and put the 3D backdrop on (I wished it had come with a few more double sided tapes, but we improvised with packing tape). This backdrop did have to be cut (the instructions explained that) so that it fit just right on the aquarium. It's really neat and very heavy duty!  Makes it look like the fish will be swimming in the deep with the scuba divers.
We really LOVE IT!

We had the perfect "alcove" in our kitchen to put this tank, so an aquarium stand was not necessary!

I rinsed off the National Geographic™ Aquarium Sand and put our new ornaments inside.  I love that there are different "lighting" styles for this aquarium.  There is a blue light, a bright white light and then both can be used at the same time too.  Since we are getting fish in the middle of summer, I did not install the "heater", but the aquarium did come with that as well.  I may use that this winter, so the fish don't get too chilly in their tank...if they live that long!
I put the water in (after doing some research online, I used tap water, so I will have to buy a dechlorination product to make the water fish ready), I turned the filter on, and we are letting things settle before we head out to get our new inhabitants of our awesome new National Geographic Aquarium Tank.  It looks so nice, huh?  I sorta want to jump in and swim in there!
The kids were bummed a little, because.they are ready to shop now...but we have to wait until mommy has GAS MONEY before we drive the distance to get our new pets.  That $25 Gift Card is burning a hole in their pockets!  They have already done their ONLINE RESEARCH about what fish they want to buy...and have pretty much already spent the money!
Hopefully it won't be too long before we can fill up our tank.

STAY TUNED!  We will be updating you on the process of picking out our perfect aquarium pets...and how they settle into their new home!

THANK YOU PETSMART!  We love this new setup and all the National Geographic products we received!!  This will keep us pleasantly entertained, as we watch our new fish make this their new home too!

I was not paid to feature this post!  I was compensated only by the products sent for this review/feature!
